One of the first few concept arts I did at the beginning of the production, our team was tasked to visualize the whole grocery store. The overall idea is to have part of the grocery store burned down so there is a nice contrast between green and black in the color palate. We went through multiple iterations on exploring the color mood in this scene but generally, we need a vehicle crashed into the storefront. But in the end, the grocery was covered with snow at the early stage of the game…

This was a fun image to do! It was a good exercise in set dressing, and an obvious homage to the fantastic The Last of Us.

This Coles Supermarket closed its doors forever in 2009. A few bits and pieces still lying around. Funny to see 2009 cigarette prices (cigarettes in Australia go up by approximately 10% each year). Slime on some of the floors and a lot of broken glass. Located in a small south eastern Australian country town, no one seems to know what to do with the derelict property.

Inspired by amazing artworks from THE LAST OF US, I adopted various types of plants and lighting styles to create an abandoned atmosphere. Hope you like it!
