Complimentary painting ideas

This image is part of my complementary colors exercise for my camera club. The purple BG was blotchy, so I used some PS filters--poster and texturizer. I wish the stems were longer.

Complementary colored silhouettes.

This painting is an example of a tetrad or double complementary color scheme. I like the purple wall against the yellowish pot. I also like the soft overall look to this painting. It doesn't seem too harsh or bold.

I love painting the richness of complementary colours from life. I use a limited palette of primary colours and mix them to get a range of colours. I do not use browns or blacks in my paintings.
