Creeping Avens Geum reptans is a rare upland species, growing on moraines, rock falls and north facing scree slopes at an altitude between 2000 and 3000 metres. Photographed at Nufenen Pass in Switzerland, July 2018.

small blue flowers are growing in the grass

Veronica repens (Creeping Speedwell) is a ground-hugging, evergreen perennial forming a showy carpet of tiny, shiny leaves on spreading stems. In spring, it produces clusters of small, white to lavender flowers. Tolerant of light foot traffic, the handsome creeping foliage is outstanding as a filler between paving stones, at garden's edge, as ground cover or in a rock garden. Excellent edging plant for water gardens.
