Jean Giraud -"Moebius"- passed last week. If you're around my age, and are either similarly dorkish, or a heavy user of hallucinogenics, you may remember the animated movie "Heavy Metal" from 1981. One of the vignettes from that film, "Taara" is based on his "Arzach" comic, from the French magazine "Métal Hurlant" (Howling Metal). I've always loved the style; realistic but also psychedelic and quietly threatening.
