The Boston Massacre happened on March 5th, 1770. It was the killing of five American colonists in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. It was the result of rising tensions between the British forces and the colonists that they imposed taxes on. When crowds formed around  a British sentry and began to throw things and catcall eight more soldiers arrived to back him up and they opened fire on the colonists without having received orders.
