This is essentially the practice of tongue exercises to keep the tongue resting on the roof of the mouth- something I teach religiously.  Your tongue posture is responsible for the way your upper and lower jaw develops and evolves over time. Your maxilla (upper jaw bone) is the central bone of the face. Your mandible is your lower jaw bone. With poor tongue posture the maxilla moves backward along with your mandible. This flattens the cheeks and creates a recession in the mandible. This is particularly noticeable in side profiles when we see an all round loss of sculpture and a flattening of the central face.
