The 128 m high "Hotel Stadt Berlin" was designed in 1964 by the architects´ collective Roland Korn, Heinz Scharlipp and Hans Erich Bogatzky and was erected at the same time as "Centrum Warenhaus" in 1967-1970 (a small detail of Centrum can be seen above the shoulder of the man on the very left). The hotel was opened in 1970, had 2,000 beds, 15 gastronomic facilities, and a multistorey parking garage…

Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church was bombed on 22 November 1943 and intentionally left as a ruin. Gloria Palast cinema closed in 1998.
