Find People
Describe the person and the kind of company they work at, get back matching professional profiles.
This is the standard people search: job title, seniority, department, location and education for the person, plus industry, size, funding and location for their company. For past jobs, time in role, skills, certifications and recent job changes, use find_people_premium at 1 credit per result.
- Tool
find_people- Cost
- 0.2 credits per profile found
- Category
- Source Leads
- Required input
- At least one detail about the people or their companies
- Returns
- Name, current job title, company, location and LinkedIn profile
What it does
- You describe two things in plain English: the companies to look in, and the people you want inside them. Your AI client turns that into search filters.
- Give it at least one detail about either. An empty search is rejected.
- Every detail you add narrows the list. Listing options inside one detail widens it: “VP or Director” matches either.
- You pay per person returned: 0.2 credits each. 10 people cost 2 credits; 50 cost 10.
It finds people and their current role. It does not return emails or phone numbers. Run find_work_email on the people you pick.
What you can search by
The person
| Search by | Examples |
|---|---|
| Job title | VP Sales, Head of Growth, CEO |
| Seniority | C-level, VP, Director, Manager |
| Department | Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Finance |
| Location | Country, city, or a region like EMEA |
| Education | Stanford, MBA, class of 2025 |
| LinkedIn connections | At least 100 connections |
| Exclusions | ”not interns”, “not based in the US” |
Their company
| Search by | Examples |
|---|---|
| Specific companies | A list of up to 50 company LinkedIn pages |
| Industry or what the company does | Software, “payroll”, “sales automation” |
| Company type | Private, public, nonprofit |
| Size | 51-200 employees |
| Revenue and website traffic | Over $10M a year, over 10,000 website visits a month |
| Funding | Raised a Series A in 2025, over $5M raised, backed by Sequoia |
| Headquarters | Country, state, city or region |
| Exclusions | ”not agencies”, “not nonprofits” |
Use cases
- Build a prospect list for your ideal customer. Describe the companies (industry, size, country) and the people (title, seniority). One request gives you the people side of a target list.
- Map the buying committee at named accounts. Give your client up to 50 company LinkedIn pages and the job titles that sign off on a purchase. You get every relevant decision-maker in one pass.
- Reach people at companies that just raised. Ask for companies that closed a funding round this year, then the person who owns the budget there.
- Search by department instead of exact title. “Directors in sales” catches the sales leaders a list of exact titles would miss.
- Find alumni of a school or program. Search by school, degree and graduation year.

| Ask your client | Use it to |
|---|---|
| ”Find VPs of Sales at US SaaS companies with 51-200 employees” | Build a prospect list for your ideal customer |
| ”Find marketing directors at companies that raised a Series A or B in 2026” | Reach new budget owners at funded companies |
| ”Find the CEO at these 20 companies” (with their LinkedIn pages) | Reach the top decision-maker at named accounts |
| ”Find engineering managers in London, excluding agencies” | Target one department in one city |
| ”Find founders of fintech companies in EMEA with over $5M raised” | Reach founders at funded startups |
| ”Find Stanford graduates working in sales at public companies” | Use a shared school as your opener |

Best prompting practices
- Paste this page’s link into your prompt. “Read
https://docs.syncgtm.com/mcp_server/tools/find_peoplefirst and use its exact filter names.” Without it, your client guesses the filter names and can drop half your criteria. - List every version of a title. Titles match word for word, with no synonyms. “VP” does not find “Vice President”, and “Demand Gen” does not find “Demand Generation”. Give each version you want.
- Say “exact title” when you mean it. “CEO” also finds “Co-CEO” and “CEO & Founder”. Ask for “exact title CEO only” to skip those.
- Pair seniority with job titles. Seniority is worked out from the title’s wording. “Marketing Head” (without “of”) counts as staff level, so asking for directors alone misses them. Name the titles too.
- Start with 10, then get more. Each person costs 0.2 credits. Check the first 10 look right before asking for hundreds.
- Search first, find emails second. Narrow down to the people you want before spending credits on emails or phone numbers.
- Ask for a table. “Show name, title, company, location and LinkedIn profile as a table.” Left to itself, your client may summarise and you lose the details you paid for.
- Zero results usually means a typo. Countries, industry names, seniority levels and departments must match exactly. If a search comes back empty, ask your client to check them against the accepted values.
What you get back
Each person comes back with:
| Detail | Example |
|---|---|
| Full name | Jane Doe |
| Current job title | VP Sales |
| Company | Acme (acme.com) |
| Company LinkedIn page | linkedin.com/company/acme |
| In this role since | March 2024 |
| Location | Austin, Texas, United States |
| LinkedIn profile | linkedin.com/in/janedoe |
| LinkedIn connections | 500 |
| Education | University of Texas, BBA Marketing |
| Skills | Sales Management, SaaS |
You get the person’s current role only, not their full career history. The headline shown with each person, like “VP Sales | @Acme”, is built from that role; it is not copied from their LinkedIn profile.
Your client also sees how many people matched in total, so you can tell whether a search is too broad before paying for more.
Credits and limits
0.2 credits per person returned. You get 10 people per request by default (2 credits) and can ask for up to 50 per request (10 credits), then ask for more after that. Every extra batch is charged the same way.
One search returns at most 50,000 people. For more than that, split it into several searches, for example one per country or one per company size.
Run check_credits (free) before a big pull.
A loose search returns lots of loose matches, and you pay 0.2 credits for every one. Check that the first 10 results look right before you ask for more.
Parameters
This section is for your AI client, not for you. Paste this page’s link into your prompt and your client reads the exact filter names and values from here.
Pass filters inside two objects, company and people, plus max_results and cursor at the top level. The company filter runs first. Every array accepts at most 50 values. On a min / max pair, 0 means unset, and min must not exceed max.
- Filters are nested:
company.hq.country_code, notcountry. An unknown field is rejected with an error that names the field and suggests the closest valid one. - Country codes are ISO-2:
["US", "GB"], not"USA"or"United Kingdom". They are not validated, so a wrong code returns zero results with no error. - Enum values are exact:
"C-Team","VP","Sales & Business Development"."C-Level","vp"and"Sales"are rejected. max_resultsis the page size, not a total. Page withcursor; each page bills per result.

How job_level is assigned
Level comes from the title wording. The first matching rule wins:
| Level | Title contains |
|---|---|
Other | Intern, Student, Trainee, Volunteer, Retired |
C-Team | Chief … Officer, CEO, CTO, CFO, CMO, Founder, Co-founder, Owner, President, Chair, Managing Director, Managing Partner, Partner |
VP | VP, Vice President, SVP, EVP, AVP |
Director | Director, Head of …, Board Member |
Manager | Manager, Team Lead, Lead, Supervisor, General Manager |
Staff | Anything else, plus Account Manager, Relationship Manager, Chief of Staff, Business Partner |
Point your client at the industry list rather than guessing: “fetch https://dyyboia6z5eq9.cloudfront.net/mcp/filters/standard/industries.json and pick every industry that fits B2B software.” It resolves the exact strings once, then reuses them for every call.
