Ezekyle Abaddon - Sons of Horus - 1st Captain

Hello everyone!

Once again, it has been quite a while since I've updated this blog. Honestly, I'm not quite sure why I still bother to
do so, but I guess it's slightly nostalgic for me.

Since the last post, I've painted an entire Space Marine! This time, yet another Abaddon model, which brings my total to 4 (group picture later in the post). This is a custom sculpt I got 3D printed by a friend of mine. Sadly, the files are no longer available since the latest GW purge.

Overall, it was good fun to paint, primarily because I think the design of this one is a good blend of the FW version and some of the newer (larger) models.

Hope you like it :-)

Cheers
Chris

Catulan Reaver Champion - Games Workshop (Conversion)

Hello everyone!

It has been quite a while since I last posted, not because I haven't been painting since March, but simply because it primarily has been Napoleonic models, which I just forget to post as most people don't find them that interesting. I have painted a Warhammer Fantasy model which I should post as I imagine some might like a whiff of nostalgia. I'll get that sorted out soon (if I remember).

Anyway!
I got this model, or well the base model, as a gift from a good friend of mine earlier in the year, and between all the Napoleonics I found time to start my conversion. The base model was the Loyalist Champion Consul from Games Workshop/Forgeworld, and then I just raided my bits box for the rest and did a lot of scraping/sanding/Greenstuffing to remove all the "loyalist" details on the model.

I'm quite proud of the conversion, but parts of the paint job I'm not too keen on, and at the same time also too lazy to actually redo it. So this will have to do :-)

Here's some more pictures for the full 360, I hope you like it.

Horus Ascended - Sons of Horus - Forgeworld

Hello everyone

As you are most likely aware, if you follow me on Instagram, I semi-recently finished painting my Horus Ascended, which was a gift from a good mate of mine. I painted this over roughly 6 months while working on other things when it started to drive me a little crazy. I'm very happy with how it turned out overall, but there are a few things that I think could have been better, but I'm simply too lazy to actually try again.

As you might have noticed it's based on a 40mm base and the reason is simply that I highly doubt I'm ever going to actually play it as the Ascended version (which is on a 60mm base) because it would require a very big game to legally bring it in an army. So I managed to cut up his scenic base and fit it on a 40mm, then used Milliput to sculpt the rest of the base.

So yeah, super happy, but I'm never going to paint this model again that's for sure :-D

Anyway, more pictures.

Here are a few pictures with a lighter background as it makes quite a difference to how the model is perceived.

Hope you like it.

Until next time

Ultramarine Command Squad - Kinstrife Terminators - DivergingRealm

Hello everyone

It has been a little while since I posted anything here. I actually thought I had shared these, but apparently, I hadn't. So better rectify that now.

These models are designed by a mate of mine a few years ago, CAD designed and then cast in resin and quite heavily modified by me. He does a lot of crazy designs and he has only gotten better in the last year, so I'd suggest checking him out! (DivergingRealm).

I began working on these before the new edition hit and I had actually written my own rules for them. But since 2nd edition arrived I haven't gone back to that idea. So I suppose I'll just play them as a Command Squad or something now (haven't played them yet).

Anyway, I'm really happy with how they turned out, even though painting all the gold was a fucking chore :-p. now enjoy some more pictures.

I also finished another project recently and I'll try to post about it soon. As always if you want to follow along with my work, check out my Instagram.

Until next time.

Chris

Davinite Lodge Priest - Sons of Horus - Forgeworld

Hello everyone

I'm going to an event in Malmö later this year and everyone has been asked to bring a "Remembrancer" for one of the missions we are going to be playing. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do, as I couldn't really think of a lore-friendly way to make a remembrancer for the Sons of Horus, seeing how they kill all of them before the Heresy actually began for real.

Luckily one of my good mates had this old model still in a blister box and offered to just give it to me, as it had just been collecting dust on his shelve for years. So I happily accepted and made a few simple modifications to it by adding the standard.

If you don't know, and I'm sure most people don't, this is an Event-only model that Forgeworld made about 10 years ago. Today you might be able to find it on eBay or a Facebook trading group if you are lucky and probably also if you do your resin shopping in the far east. Personally I've never seen this model in the flesh before and there aren't a lot of pictures of it online, so I guess it's relatively rare.

It was such a blast to convert and paint and I think this model will suit the role of "Remembrancer" perfectly during the event.

Anyway here are some more pictures, enjoy :-)

Now I'm back to painting a lot of Tactical Marines, follow along on Instagram if you would like to see my progress. However, it's currently extremely hot (as you probably know) so hobby time is a little sporadic...

Until next time

Recon Marines - Sons of Horus - Forgeworld

Hello everyone
So I'm currently working on a rather large project for my Sons of Horus, this weekend I managed to finish the first part of it, this 5 man Recon Squad. Was a lovely kit to paint and had a lot of fun with it. I'm actually surprised how fast I finished these, but I'm sure batch painting 30 tactical marines will kill my will to live again :-p

These are painted by following my own recipe (from the pdf) and then added a bit more highlights with the hairy brush in the end, just using some glazes etc.

Anyway here are some more pictures.

Until next time
Chris
