Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

DNSCove is a managed authoritative DNS service operated by VectraSEO LLC ("DNSCove", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our site, create an account, and use the DNSCove console and API, and how we use and protect it. It applies to dnscove.com, the console at app.dnscove.com, and the DNSCove API.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account information. Your email address, used as your login identity for magic-link sign-in and to register passkeys (WebAuthn). We store passkey public credential data needed to authenticate you, but we do not store passwords.
• DNS configuration. The zones, records, and settings you create — these are operational data you control, and some (such as records that resolve publicly) are, by design, published to the public Domain Name System.
• Billing information. When you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment-card and billing details; we do not receive or store full card numbers. We keep a Stripe customer identifier, your plan, subscription status, and renewal dates.
• Communications. Messages you send us for support, legal, privacy, or billing questions.

Information collected automatically

• Service and log data. IP address, browser/user-agent, timestamps, and request metadata generated when you use the console or API, kept for security, abuse prevention, and debugging.
• Cookies and local storage. We use a small number of necessary cookies or local storage entries to keep you signed in, protect sessions, and remember interface preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

3. How we use information

• Provide, operate, and secure the DNSCove service and answer DNS queries for your zones.
• Authenticate you (magic links, passkeys) and manage your account.
• Process subscriptions, billing, renewals, and cancellations through Stripe.
• Send service and transactional email (for example, magic-link sign-in and account or billing notices) via our email provider.
• Detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We rely on the legal bases of performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and compliance with law. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. DNS query data

DNSCove operates authoritative nameservers that answer DNS queries for domains delegated to us. When a resolver looks up a name in one of your zones, our edge may process the query name, query type, response code, timestamp, and the source IP address of the querying resolver. We use this operational data to serve responses, troubleshoot reliability, and protect the network (for example, rate-limiting abuse). We do not build advertising profiles from DNS query data. Aggregate, non-identifying statistics may be used to operate and improve the service.

5. When we share information

We share personal information only as described here:

• Service providers (subprocessors) who process data on our behalf to provide hosting, storage, email, payment processing, and related operational services — see the list below.
• Legal and safety — when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of DNSCove, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

We do not sell personal information or share it for third-party advertising.

7. Data retention

We keep account and DNS configuration data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Billing records are retained as required for tax, accounting, and dispute purposes. Security and service logs are retained for a limited period appropriate to their purpose and then deleted or anonymized. When you delete a zone or close your account, we remove the associated configuration from the active service and from our edge on the next publish, subject to backups, abuse-prevention records, and legal retention requirements.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the service, including encryption in transit, scoped API tokens, passkey (WebAuthn) and magic-link authentication instead of stored passwords, and least-privilege access. No online service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, and we cannot warrant absolute security; we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to incidents.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of certain processing, and to appeal a decision. To exercise any right, contact us using the contact details below; we will verify your request and respond as required by applicable law. You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

US state privacy laws. If you are a resident of a US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the rights that law provides. We do not sell personal information or process it for targeted advertising.

EEA/UK. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including the rights described above and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. DNSCove is operated from the United States and does not currently maintain an EU or UK representative.

10. International data transfers

DNSCove is operated from the United States, and information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. When we transfer personal information from a jurisdiction that requires transfer safeguards, we use measures available under applicable law, such as contracts with our service providers and standard contractual protections where required.

11. Children

DNSCove is a developer and business tool and is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority where required, to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of DNSCove after an update means you accept the revised policy.

DNSCove is a service of VectraSEO LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company. This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. (The Anchorage address above is a mailing address only.)
