Sadie's Favorite Boyfriend.
Speck Rhodes was an American treasure, even if Porter Wagoner was the only one who ever laughed at his jokes. He also sang.

"Heil, Honey, I'm Home" Wow. Wrongest Show........Right?
Heil Honey, I'm Home. Canceled off BSB (the square dish people if I remember right...) in 1990 after one episode.
As Jeffrey Ross stated today, "if it's not offending someone it's probably not a joke."

The Monitors are your friends
While scanning newspapers of my childhood I spotted this ad from a movie I don't recall ever seeing. The Monitors was based on sci-fi writer Keith Laumer's novel and produced by Second City's Bernie Sahlins.
The Monitors take over earth, imposing order till a restance movement forms to return the life of sin everyone was accustomed to; with Guy Stockwell, Susan Oliver, Larry Storch, Avery Schreiber, Keenan Wynn and Ed Bagley.

Dueling Tubas
In 1973, before becoming TV's Garth and Barth Gimble, Martin Mull's "Dueling Tubas" made the Billboard Hot 100 (well, the lower end) alongside popular hits of the day like "Walk on the Wild Side, a pre-Hallowe'en reissue of "Monster Mash" and the Dickie Goodman-produced "Superfly Meets Shaft" by John and Ernest.

On the Heels of Dick
Julie Newmar crashing on My Living Doll. Get it while you can- Jack Chertok Productions has been making the thugs at Viacom take down these clips, despite his corpse a moulderin' in the grave, lo these 15 years. Julie, however, yet lives and breathes. God forbid they release it on DVD so she could make a few lousy shekels, maybe.

Shaving Cream and other delights
You may remember Benny Bell's 1940s risque novelty song "Shaving Cream" — sung by Paul Wynn — from the Dr. Demento Show or recently when WFMU's Best Show host Tom Scharpling compared the song to what 2 Live Crew used to do.
After being played by Dr. Demento the song became a Top 40 hit for four weeks in 1975, peaking at 30.
Download "Shaving Cream" and other songs like "Go Take a Ship for Yourself," "Pincus the Peddler," "A Goose for My Girl" and many others from the Internet Archive.
These ads appeared in Billboard in the 1940s.

UK Humor (Humour) Fest at archive.org
| Arthur Askey |
| Will Hay |
Will Hay in Windbag the Sailor
Arthur Askey in Back Room Boy
Will Hay in Convict 99
Arthur Askey in Bees in Paradise
Arthur Askey in Ghost Train
I'd prattle on about their history and careers, but resources for that will hopefully be evident through the links provided. Instead just enjoy the comedy, IMHO underappreciated in their own country. We tend to rhapsodize about the Marx Brothers and W.C Fields, but Hay and Askey (along with Formby and others)were providing top notch comedy for the era that just never made it over here. Well, now, over here is the world.

Night Train
Keely Smith isn't pleased. "Stoopid Prima! Foolish Mr. Butera! How old are they?!?! Five? Men! ... Well, I must admit there is something to this beat. Nah. I will NOT give them the pleasure. I will not. Brutes! Pigs! Can't we just sing a slow romantic one. This is so childish ... But ... Hm ... No. I'll just stand here til they're finnished with this stoopid song."

"Entertainment" seems to be a word out of fashion nowadays. That's a shame.
Cool artists of today! Looky! Watch this and ... blush.

Tubby, Revisited
I always find the most interesting things when I'm looking for something else. I ran across some GREAT stories about comedian Tubby Boots-- including the tale of his friendship with Lord Buckley-- on Classic Television Showbiz.
Truth? Fiction? Who cares!

I Heart Julia Segal (This Morning)
I love her absolute willingness to aggregate awesome crap - like so many of us doing this admittedly, but it's just that she does it with such elan and style.... I never cringed.

Don't Crush Lex10, Hand Me the Pliers
Monster Movie Music and Beyond reacquaints us with the not-so-discrete charms of Fireside Theatre alum Phil Austin's comedy classic, Roller Maidens From Outer Space, along with the song stylings of Red Greenback and the Blue Boys pickin' and grinnin' their mega-country hit, You've Got All Night To Wrestle A Live Nude Stewardess In Flight.
