San Bernardino County’s Land Use Services Department – Code Enforcement Division is here to help everyone enjoy off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation safely and responsibly. The team works countywide to make sure riders, neighbors, and our desert landscapes are protected. Their High Desert office is located at 15900 Smoke Tree Street in Hesperia, reachable at (760) 995-8140. You can also email them anytime at codeenforcementdivision@lus.sbcounty.gov, or call their dedicated OHV complaint line at (760) 995-8140.To keep our communities peaceful and our natural spaces healthy, the San Bernardino County Off-Highway Vehicle Ordinance asks riders to follow a few simple rules. Riding is only allowed on your own property or on someone else’s property if you have written permission from the owner. Staging isn’t allowed on private property smaller than 2.5 acres, and staging for more than six days within a 30-day period is also not permitted. OHVs must meet state noise limits, and riding or staging in a way that creates loud noise, dust, smoke, or fumes that disturb others is against county rules. Additionally, flood control lands and environmentally sensitive areas are off-limits to riders, as marked by posted signs. If you love off-roading, the good news is that San Bernardino County offers many legal places to ride. Popular open riding areas managed by the Bureau of Land Management include Dumont Dunes, El Mirage, Johnson Valley, Rasor, and Stoddard Valley. The U.S. Forest Service also offers great options such as the Baldy Mesa (Trestles) OHV Staging Area, Cleghorn Ridge OHV Road, and Summit OHV Staging Area, along with permitted motocross tracks throughout the county.Whether you’re exploring the dunes, enjoying desert trails, or practicing at a track, we welcome riders to experience our beautiful county responsibly. Ride smart, respect your neighbors and the land, and enjoy the adventure! ... See MoreSee Less
