Here’s a new process video up!
Remember, there’s not one way to draw things! You don’t have to draw it exactly like this , but you can apply certain things from this. This is just a little process we hope that might be useful to others out there! More to come, y’all!
Edit: Something else to keep in mind ! It’s something we see from other artists who put tutorials online and the result after they post it - When coming across a tutorial , taking the technique or the simplification of a process and carrying that over to your own way of drawing things is a lot more beneficial than copying the exact composition/subject matter/color pallet . If it’s for practice , that’s fine! But don’t let a tutorial direct ( or discourage) you in a way that isn’t your own unique way of drawing . If you’re in search of finding a style of your own , then finding helpful tutorials is a great way to expand your knowledge of techniques rather than doing exact copies of the actual art itself. :) And just to add , we’re big fans of Evyind Earle! His technique of graphic simplification is something we’re learning ourselves as we try to apply the photoshop layers in a similar , simpler fashion. He’s a good artist to learn from , so hopefully this tutorial was helpful in deconstructing admirable aspects of some awesome work from different artists we enjoy! And if you did this tutorial , please let us know. We’d love to see what you did !Forest Talk Process - OLI (2012)

More bunched up tutorials here, (Will post separately soon)

Keep in mind when following from a visual process piece ( much like this one and without words) or a tutorial, don’t try to copy exactly what you see from it. Don’t try to copy the trees, the clothes, the colors, or the characters (the fox if for a WIP book of ours(!)) but try to apply the steps into a totally original picture of your own. You get a lot more out of a process by taking it one by one. In this case, layer by layer. Just apply what you see in the process of laying out the picture, instead of emulating the artists’s visual style. We have done that from past experience looking up tutorials on DeviantART when we were like, 13/14! It may help for the moment, but find your own process, and explore what helps you get a picture done easier! Hope this helps a little. :)
StarCatchers - ELI

Liked both versions. The top one was inspired by the black and white ink drawing (on real paper..yay!) on the bottom. The top 2 were done after the ones on the bottom. Getting more confident in inking, but still have a lot to learn! :)
Top 2: Done entirely on paint Tool SAI
Bottom 2: Ink drawing done on computer paper with Pentel brush pen. Colored in Paint Tool SAI. Textured in photoshop.
