About

Our Mission

China boasts an uninterrupted historical heritage spanning five millennia, a legacy that has enriched the tapestry of human civilization. Yet, for non-native Chinese speakers, accessing this profound wisdom is often hindered by linguistic barriers. The mission of EN.5000YAN is to dismantle this barrier, providing global readers with a lucid, precise, and readily accessible repository of Chinese cultural knowledge, rendering the resplendent civilization of China within reach.

Our Story

EN.5000YAN is the English-language edition of the 5000YAN project. In 2017, we established the Chinese portal, 5000YAN.com, and have since cultivated a deep expertise in traditional Chinese culture. Over the years, we have amassed a comprehensive content library and professional experience spanning classical philosophy, history, and literature. Responding to a growing desire among international readers to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, we are now formally launching EN.5000YAN to present these accumulated treasures to the English-speaking world.

Our Content Framework

We have devised a tripartite interpretive structure for each work: Original Text, Guided Introduction, and In-depth Analysis. This architecture allows readers to appreciate the classics in their original form while simultaneously receiving chapter-by-chapter elucidation and interpretation. This "Original Text + Interpretation + Analysis" methodology represents a unique and comprehensive practice not readily found elsewhere on the English-speaking internet.

Our Translation Process

All translations on this site are produced through a transparent workflow:

  1. AI-assisted drafting. Classical Chinese source texts are translated into English with the assistance of large language models.
  2. Human review. Before publication, each translation is checked against the original text for accuracy, clarity, and cultural nuance.
  3. Ongoing refinement. Translations are periodically revised as we receive feedback and our standards evolve.

If you notice any inaccuracy or have suggestions, please contact us at en@5000yan.com — we will review and correct it.
