Unclear. Compare Lepcha ᰜᰤᰬᰵ (lyeŋ, young), Iu Mien jaih jaanx (a hen which has not laid eggs), Proto-Tai *C̬.qɤːŋᴮ (young hen), Proto-Hlai *C-ləŋ (chicken classifier) (whence Hlai lang) (Schuessler, 2007).
