[edit]Unclear. Compare Lepcha ᰜᰤᰬᰵ (lyeŋ, “young”), Iu Mien jaih jaanx (“a hen which has not laid eggs”), Proto-Tai *C̬.qɤːŋᴮ (“young hen”), Proto-Hlai *C-ləŋ (“chicken classifier”) (whence Hlai lang) (Schuessler, 2007).
