(Notifying Leasnam, Lambiam, Urszag, Hundwine, Mnemosientje): Apologies everyone for all the pings. User:Leasnam created the Old English entry with pronunciation either cēn or ċēn. I think it should only be ċēn, which is the expected form. I think Leasnam's motivation was that it can represent a hard /k/ and hence it should have been able to be pronounced with an initial hard /k/, but AFAIK there was only one letter that could represent both sounds, and logically it would have a single pronunciation, which should be the same as the word "torch" since most runic names were the same as basic vocabulary terms. I don't know how this word was pronounced. What you say makes sense, but I think "logically it would have a single pronunciation" is a little weak: in modern Israeli Hebrew, there seem to be two pronunciations /bet/ and /vet/ for the two pronunciations of the letter ב (bet is written with a dagesh in dotted writing, but is identical in form to vet in undotted writing).--Urszag (talk) 06:05, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

Yes, I am fine with the pronunciation being /t͡ʃeːn/. That is the expected pronunciation from *kiznaz Leasnam (talk) 03:58, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
