Missing obsolete sense?

Seems to mean something like "passionate" here. Note carefully that the "violent regard" suggests love, not hatred (because she does not have a violent regard to the child, whom she would not be expected to love). Equinox ◑ 21:25, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
