Etymology

[edit]

Uncertain. Compare Latin roseus. Probably from the verb arushinedz, itself from rushescu (turn red, blush), from arosh. Other explanations derive it from a Vulgar Latin root *rosinus ("rose-colored"), *russionem or *rosionem. May possibly be also from an earlier *arushiciuni, from rushescu. Compare Romanian rușine, Megleno-Romanian rușǫni.

Noun

[edit]

arushini f (plural arushinj, definite articulation arushinea)

  1. shame, sense of decency
