Borrowed from Brunei Malay bendahari (treasurer), from Sanskrit भाण्डागारिक (bhāṇḍāgārika, treasurer). Compare Hindi भंडार (bhaṇḍār) and Javanese ꦧꦼꦤ꧀ꦢꦫ (bendara).
