[edit]From Proto-Austronesian *kəsəʀ (“strength, vigor, force”). Compare Cebuano kusog (“muscle; strength; effort”). Also possibly from Hokkien 假識/假识 (ké-siak, “feign understanding”), according to Manuel (1948).
