- (phonetics) A nasal vowel [õ]. The norm in Americanist notation; sometimes used in IPA transcription to leave room over the vowel letter for tone diacritics.
- (phonetics) An open vowel [ɔ~ɒ], distinct from [o]. The norm in German dialectological notation; long equivalent is ǭ.
