Club Atlético Central Norte is a football club from Salta city, Argentina. The team currently plays in the Torneo Argentino A, which is the regionalised third level of the Argentine Football Association league system.
Central Norte was founded in Salta on March 9, 1921, and took its name from the state-owned Ferrocarril Central Norte which railway line crossed the province of Salta.
2007 match fixing scandal
At the end of the Clausura 2007 tournament, Central Norte was found guilty of fixing a 1-1 draw with 9 de Julio de Rafaela, which was the result that 9 de Julio needed to qualify for the end of season playoffs, denying central Norte's rivals Juventud Antoniana a place.
After an investigation, 9 de Julio was replaced by Juventud Antoniana in the quarter finals. The evidence took the form of a video of the agreement which was broadcasted on Argentine Sports channel TyC Sports.
The club began the 2008 Torneo Apertura tournament with a deduction of six points and their manager, Victor Riggio, was banned from football for five years.
