Janet Irvine Buchanan (popularly known as Janet Evra) (born 4 July 1988) is an English-born vocalist, bassist, guitarist, songwriter and bandleader. Evra sings in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French and performs in jazz, indie jazz, French jazz, bossa nova, samba, and latin jazz styles.[1][2]

Personal life

Janet was born in Gloucester, England. She later moved to St. Louis, Missouri, USA, where she is currently residing. Evra grew up in a musical household and learned the piano, cello, and guitar as a child.[3]

Career

Evra has performed at various music events and concerts in the US and Europe.[4] She has performed in Sweden, Denmark, and Switzerland, and in 2019 she performed at the Deva Jazz Festival in Romania.[5] Evra's debut album 'Ask Her to Dance' was released in 2018.[6] Later In 2019 Evra released 'Wish You Were Here', a single, and in 2020 she released singles 'Summer Love Song', 'Floating on Life', and 'I'd Rather Be Lonely With You'.[7] Evra was a 2019-2020 Artist in Residence at the Kranzberg Arts Foundation in St. Louis, USA.[8][9] She has collaborated with musicians including Randy Brecker, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown Ptah Williams, Diego Figueiredo among others. Evra signed with Lotown records in 2020.[10]
