Raf born as Raffaele Riefoli on September 29, 1959 in Italy is an Italian popular singer. Raf started out his musical career in 1984 mostly landing in the new wave scene with his English sung album Raf. His very first single Self Control (which was later sung by an American singer Laura Branigan) was a huge hit not only in his native Italy but also in many other European countries including Germany where the single climbed as high as no. 2 in the Media Control chart. Raf released two other singles from his English sung album "Change Your mind" and "Hard" which were not as successful as the first single. Despite all the success that Raf was experiencing by releasing his records in English language, in 1988 he decided to produce the rest of his upcoming albums in his native language the sounds of which were switched from new wave into simply pop. Raf has released 10 albums throughout the years.
