License tagging for Image:IBat90&2minutes.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:IBat90&2minutes.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:06, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:IBat90&2minutesNEW.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:IBat90&2minutes.jpg. The copy called Image:IBat90&2minutes.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Speedy deletion of Carney's on sunset

A tag has been placed on Carney's on sunset requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. AfD nomination of Carney's on sunset

I have nominated Carney's on sunset, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carney's on sunset. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Image deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:JohnGBarrettKCTM.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. James086Talk | Email 12:46, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Dive N' Surf

A tag has been placed on Dive N' Surf, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Image Rights for Image:DorianYates-RayMentzer.jpg; image:KirkMaillet&MikeMentzer2.jpg and Image:Dorian-yates.jpg

We have recieved an e-mail via OTRS about the copyright status of these images. The image tags indicate that you are the rights holder and that you took the images personally. To assist me with dealing with the enquiry, please can you confirm that this is correct and that you do definitely hold the rights to these images? I am sorry if this sounds a bit terse but I'm not allowed to publish the contents of any e-mails sent via OTRS so I'm kind of faced with having to simply ask the question. Hi, Lumal. The text in this edit was a direct copy of this book review and therefore, violates wikipedia's copyright policy. In addition, a book review on a book about Jones is irrelevant in an article about Jones. The actual facts about Jones himself (not the book reviewers take on a book) are what would be relevant. Finally, it was largely repetitive of the rest of the article. Mosedschurte (talk) 20:37, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Polanski-postersmall.jpg}

Thank you for uploading Image:Polanski-postersmall.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 20:59, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Posters

I'm no expert, but here's my understanding. Posters are always copyright, and can only be justified under "fair use" criteria. Look at sections 2,3 and 4 of Image:Titanic poster.jpg (section 1 is just a verification by another editor added later) as an example

  • The summary must say what it is, who owns the copyright ("likely owned by the production company" if not sure) and where you got the image from
  • For each article it's used in, you must justify its use - Titanic shows how to do this
  • Unusually, the Titanic poster is used in two articles, so a second separate justification must be given for each article
  • Then you need the "fair use" licence {{Non-free poster}}
  • and category [[Category:Film poster images]]

Hope this helps, jimfbleak (talk) 05:44, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:BILLmesitrell.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:17, 26 November 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 05:17, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:LumalWWII.gif

A tag has been placed on Image:LumalWWII.gif, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Image permission problem with Image:CrandallBROOKSvera2.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:CrandallBROOKSvera2.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 04:02, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:HeinrichAhasverusGrafvonLehndorff-Steinort.jpg.

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Bhh-1912a-km7.jpg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:56, 1 December 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 15:56, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image permission problem with Image:JBheadSHOTImg 4723-km.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:JBheadSHOTImg 4723-km.jpg.

Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 15:59, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
