Ravindra Prabhat (born 5 April 1969) is a Hindi-language novelist, journalist, poet, and short story writer from India.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Prabhat was born on 5 April 1969 in the village of Mahindwara, Sitamarhi, in Bihar, India.[2][3] He was raised and received his primary education in Mahindwara. He obtained his higher education in geography honours from B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University in Muzaffarpur. Later, he studied Master of Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) from the Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Allahabad.[4][5][6][7]
Personal life
[edit]According to the Brahmin family culture, he underwent an upanayan initiation at age eleven. He married M. Prabhat, in Bettiah on 18 May 1989. They have a son and two daughters.[8][9]
Literary career
[edit]Prabhat has been writing since 1987 on various subjects.[10][11][12][13] Some of his works have been translated into other languages and published in various literary magazines and anthologies. Prabhat currently serves as chief editor of VatVriksh[14] & Parikalpana Samay[15] (Hindi Magazine).
Writings and style
[edit]Prabhat often writes about social issues and human suffering.[16][17]
Blogging
[edit]Prabhat has written and edited works on Hindi blogging and has also published his writing in the form of a blog. He started blogging in 2007 and has published fiction as well as reviews of other blogs.[18]
Prabhat is a founding member of the Parikalpna Award, a blog literary award in India.[19] It is presented by the magazine Parikalpana Samay and the Non-governmental organization Parikalpnaa.[20] The first Parikalpna Award was presented on 30 April 2011.[21]
