From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The job of the coordinator is to:

  • archive discussions
  • maintain categories, assessments, and guidelines according to the wishes of the project
  • arrange bot runs
  • manage project collaborations ('Composer of the Month' or whatever)
  • solicit opinions, mediate disputes and 'cast the deciding vote' if opinion is deadlocked
  • post notices for the project etc.

The coordinator serves the project. He or she does not enjoy any special executive powers, or have any authority over article content or editor conduct.

Election

[edit]

An election is held at least once a year. (The coordinator may resign at any time, but is normally expected to set up the election of his or her successor. )

The period for nominations is one week. The period for the election (if there is more than one candidate) is also one week. Project participants are invited to nominate or self-nominate candidates. They have the opportunity to ask candidates questions. The election is conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project can support as many of the candidates as he or she wishes.
