[edit]Assignment # 3
[edit]- Note: You will be emailing your assignment # 3 directly to your tutor, however, please paste a version here that excludes your personal information. This will allow us to support your efforts on Wikipedia prior to editing "live" in the article.
Proposed changes:
I will be adding a new section on the diagnosis of Metamorphopsia. I will be using the source from Assignment #2 to summarize current diagnostic tests, their downsides, and newer tests that can improve sensitive and accurate detection of Metamorphopsia. My exact wording for this proposed change is:
Current tests used for diagnosis of Metamorphopsia mostly make use of subjective assessments of how a person views regular patterns, making such tests have poor sensitivities. More recent assessments are making use of a psychophysical test called preferential hyperacuity perimetry, which assesses a person’s ability to any misalignments of visual objects for a more sensitive diagnosis of Metamorphopsia.
Rationale for proposed change:
Currently, there is limited information available for Metamorphopsia on it’s Wikipedia page. Adding information on the diagnosis of Metamorphopsia will give readers more context on current tests available for identifying visual abnormalities, and will be a valuable supplement to the pathophysiology section of the page.
There are no controversies or varied opinions of this proposed change, although there may be disagreement on any specific downsides of the types of tests mentioned (ex. stating that the current tests are subjective).
The reference used for this proposed change is:

Critique of source:
There is potential for bias using this source, as the authors have cited their own paper in their review. To limit this bias, I have chosen to broadly summarize the current and future diagnostic tests, without going into detail on specific examples the authors had provided.
What to post on the Wikipedia article talk page?
[edit]- This will also be covered on Nov 23rd in class. Your group should use the below template to share an outline of your proposed improvements (including your new wording and citations). Article talk pages are not places to share your assignment answers. The Wikipedia community will be more interested in viewing your exact article improvement suggestions including where you plan to improve the article (which section), what wording you suggest, and the exact citation (Note: all citations must meet WP:MEDRS)
- You will not be able to paste citations directly from your sandbox to talk pages (unless you are interested in editing/learning Wiki-code in the "source editing" mode). We suggest re-adding your citations on the talk page manually (using the cite button and populating the citation by pasting in the DOI, website, or PMID). You will have to repeat this process yet again when you edit the actual article live.
