Normandy Cafeteria was a Brooklyn, New York, eatery which was incorporated in May 1922, with an initial capital investment of $40,000.[1] Located at 1510 Sheepshead Bay Road, Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, the establishment was co-owned by Charles Conterno, a chef. The business endured the 1920s and the years of the Great Depression, only to succumb to financial difficulties in late 1939. Its resilience during the 1930s, a troubled economic era, is noteworthy.
Conterno was served with a bankruptcy petition on December 22, 1939. His residence at the time was 125 Brighton 11th Street, Brooklyn. Normandy Cafeteria's liabilities were listed as $11,158, with no assets.[2]
