Hi, I've placed a comment on your submission - while the article is reasonably worded, it is still very vulnerable; but the NYTimes article alluded to - if supported with a direct citation - should be enough to convince folks that there's enough notability here not to delete it. 007 Legends
Hi there David, I'm Josh. I'm new to being a Wikipedia account holder, but not new to Wikipedia itself. I edited 007 Legends, and there was a message saying that there was something wrong with it, but I don't know why. Could you help me out? Your request for rollback
Hi David1217. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ItsZippy (talk • contributions) 18:21, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Port Perry High School
Hello David1217! As you supposed, I'm entirely new to the Wikipedia-ing. At any rate, you send me a message saying my edit to the Port Perry High School page may have been dubious in nature. While it may have appeared so, (as I up and deleted a big gob of it), the large section I deleted is actually duplicate text that appears just under it. Would I have been better to take a different approach from deleting it outright (though it certainly needs to be removed - as it sits now the article repeats over five paragraphs verbatim). Cheers, and thanks for the help. Gradeaplonker (talk) 01:29, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- My apologies, I didn't see the repeated text below, and thought you were simply deleting a section. I have restored your revision, as deleting the redundant text was the right thing to do. Sorry for the vandalism message. David1217 (talk) 01:34, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 23
Hi. When you recently edited Lentz, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Germanic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

YCAT
Hi David
I am the Director of White Rose Community Television. We evolved from York Community Access Television in 2005 and would like to update and add some additional information to our page. I am new to Wikipedia and would like help in persevering what has been done, update some and create a new brand for our station, WRCT.TV
my contact information is:
Steve Busch, Director of Regional Partnerships White Rose Community Television City of York 101 S George St York PA 17401 717-968-4177 cell www.wrct.tv
One problem I have is the heading which says "YCAT was a PEG station in York PA" this kinda means we don't exist any longer; which is partly true..YCAT doesn't exist but change its name to WRCT. I can't figure out how to edit this part.
Also, I would like to 'cleanup' and meet your quality standard. My email address is wrct@comcast.net

Wikipedia novice with interest in editing Savourna Stevenson article.
Many thanks for your friendly welcome to Wikipedia. I have an interest in up-dating the Wikipedia article on Savourna Stevenson, which is currently rather limited and inaccurate, but have no experience in writing suitable text for Wikipedia. Perhaps you could give me some advice about listing suitable citations? I can see that an internet link can be created to a specific article published in a newspaper, but this can only be done for an article written relatively recently which is held on the newspaper's online archive. If I have actual copies of an older newspaper articles, which pre-date internet listing, how do I use these as citations? Is it relevant/possible to reproduce an entire article which is used as a citation, or is it considered sufficient simply to list a reference to the article/newspaper/date of publication? I had already started editing and up-dating the article on Savourna Stevenson ... but have already been reprimanded for not writing in a suitably encyclopedic style. I would like to do some more homework on Wikipedia policies, guidelines and writing style before having another attempt. With thanks. Frasergord (talk) 14:36, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Question from Laura coyne
Hello David, I started out reading a nice description of my alma mater, Saint Louise de Marillace High School, and followed the invitation to add to the stump. I am a copy editor and writer, so I fixed grammar and punctuation, and added some other facts. The entire post that had been there, and my contributions, have been withdrawn. So, teach me. What was wrong that everything has been revoked, removed? I have registered. I want to help. This has me really frustrated. Thank you. 64.255.111.50 (talk) 16:23, 5 June 2012 (UTC) Laura Coyne
- I am sorry, I should have provided a better explanation for my revert. (I assume you are User:Laura coyne.) I reverted it because: a) it was unsourced, so there was no way to verify it. It should have been cited to a reliable source, or at least the school's website. And b) it was unencyclopedic, i.e. it didn't have the formal and factual tone used on an encyclopedia. If you could fix those things, please, by all means, edit the article. Also, it's great if you copyedit it. I am a copyeditor on Wikipedia myself, and I appreciate fixing mistakes. Happy editing! David1217 04:22, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, David, will pursue standards and suggestions. But very hard to source other material because the school is gone, no collection of research or history, no website, but this. When I found it, here, the copy was subjective but well shared. I filled in details, improved punctuation, maybe added too much color. I was so upset that my changes caused the preexisting narrative to go away-- it is all that we had-- I wanted.to ask please reinstate hers, forget I was ever here.
I have learned a lot, don't have tons of time to become an uber editor but have done my share reporting duplicates and gaps before I registered. So now:

Do you guys want me to work on this in sandbox. And how to post good copy without it being erased carte bLanche by people who still don't like .

- Hi David. Would you please look again and reconsider your statement? Where was there an improper use of rollback?
- This rollback was the one I thought was improper. WP:ROLLBACK specifically says: "Use of standard rollback for any other purposes – such as reverting good-faith changes which you happen to disagree with – is likely to be considered misuse of the tool." While the changes were probably not appropriate for that article, they were certainly good faith. David1217 01:33, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm confused. You stated above "the user that reverted you shouldn't have used a particular tool to do that:" and I'm the user that reverted him at Necrophobia. He has now taken to lecturing me that I misused rollback.

Advice about hostile editor
Hello, I wrote my first wikipedia article recently on an important social scientist whose work I have studied and whose wikipedia page seemed bizarrely sparse compared to other scholars of similar standing. One editor flagged some errors I made complying with standards and I did my best to amend them. Now this person has not only reflagged the article, I think unfairly, but has also posted a very rude attack, accusing me of being either a "lackey" or the person the article is about (which I definitely am not). I've written and edited for encyclopedias before (I mean actual paper ones) and tried to get feedback from other non-expert writer / editors on the objectivity of hte article, and nobody seems to see what this person's problem is. I can only imagine that this person has some kind of personal vendetta against the subject of the article, though I have no idea why, and I can see from his/her talk page that I'm not the only person who has questioned some of his/her tags and edits. But as a newcomer I don't know what to do about this. Is there a neutral third party who can read the article and tell me how to improve it without ad hominem attacks on both myself and the subject of the article? I don't know what to do. Can you help? It's not a very friendly introduction to wikipedia, to be attacked like that so unfairly. SocSciHistory (talk) 19:10, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
- Apologies for what may look like a WP:Bite but I've been struggling to help turn what was an WP:Advert into a more respectable article. My use of template tags have actually significantly improved the article and I hope it can be improved further. Plot Spoiler (talk) 19:27, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
- Well, the article certainly looks quite nice. I think you and Plot Spoiler can work out any problems on the article's talk page. David1217 05:17, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Hey! help me to create a page on my script --Iamgauravkumar1 (talk) 08:56, 10 June 2012 (UTC) iamgauravkumar1
- What do you mean by "script"? A script that helps you edit? A page about a script you invented? Please explain. David1217 14:53, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, I see now. The reason your movie script was not accepted to be an article was that you don't have reliable sources establishing notability. Previous versions were written like an advertisment, and were speedily deleted as such. I would not continue to recreate the article, as then you may be blocked from editing. Basically you need to find sources not related to yourself about the film. Did that help? David1217 15:15, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Help needed to clear the Feedback Dashboard queue
Hi David1217, a project has been constructed and Maryana (WMF) was wondering if you'd be able to help out with a research project her colleagues are running on the effects of MoodBar/Feedback Dashboard. They're trying to see if getting a response to MoodBar feedback helps newbies edit more – but to do that, they need to (temporarily) raise the level of responses to as close to 100% as possible. (Don't worry; it's only a week-long test.) If you could help me and her spread the word among the other FD top responders you know to help us clear the backlog by June 19th, that would be awesome! More details about this test are on this page on Meta. Let her know if you have any questions and feel free to get in touch with other FD leaders about this if you want :)
Cheers,

David, thank you so much from me and the MoodBar research team for your work on clearing the Feedback Dashboard backlog! You and the other responders have doubled the number of responses to feedback in the past few days. I wanted to let you know that in 4 more days, the MoodBar will be temporarily disabled, so you won't see any new feedback coming in for a little while. This is just to get a sample of users to compare to the ones who could give feedback and get responses from you – it'll be back soon. So get all of your responding in now, because you might have to go through a bit of Feedback Dashboard withdrawal next week :) Thanks again, and keep up the great work! - No, I still like getting thank-yous! I just wanted to explain why I haven't been active lately. David1217 00:05, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Feedback Dashboard Update
Hello, David1217. New feedback should slow down and then stop in the next couple of days – the researchers temporarily turned off the MoodBar for people registering right now, in order to get a control sample for their test – so you'll have time to catch up. It will be turned on again on the 29th. I just hope you don't get too bored next week without feedback! Maybe visit the Teahouse?
Cheers,

Belchfire (talk) 23:48, 15 June 2012 (UTC)- The reason I sent the article through AFC is that when I started the article, I didn't feel confident enough to put the article "live" immediately. Thank you for the review! David1217 13:48, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Re: Protection of these articles?
Re your message: It appears to be summer transfer season for players and everybody seems to be adding players that either officially signed, rumored to sign, or wishful thinking. Whom those players are and where they fit in, I have no idea. Add in some potential coach firings along with who might or might not be team captain/vice-captain and you get the mess that is those articles. Unfortunately, there are just so many edits I can't pick out which edits are good and which are rumors/wishful thinking. These soccer club articles seem to go through this ever time it is transfer season, but this has to be the worse I've ever seen. I'm tempted to protect the articles, but I can't think of a protection reason that would apply there. I suppose edit warring would be the most reasonable, but usually edit warring is just one particular thing being added/removed. These two articles have multiple things being added/removed which makes it very confusing. I'm kind of leaning towards letting it go unprotected and let the articles sort themselves out. It should whenever transfer season is over. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:27, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- Okay then, thank you. I didn't think of it being transfer season. I'll ask someone at the relevant WikiProject if they can help out. David1217 05:31, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- No problem. Good idea about the WikiProject contact. You might also look into asking whomever is active at List of Iranian football transfers summer 2012 about helping out. That article seems more stable than the two club articles. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:44, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
