DYK for Nicky Astria

Template:Did you know nominations/Last Child (band)‎

I like seeing new users get DYKs. Can you possibly take a look at Indonesian related Template:Did you know nominations/Last Child (band)‎ so it doesn't get pulled for copyvio? --LauraHale (talk) 08:16, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

  • Can you comment to say that? I've seen some major nasty attacks on reviewers for missing paraphrasing and it just makes me want to hide and over react every time I even suspect it. :( It is awful for everyone involved. I don't want to say it and be wrong. (One bit could just be solved by tossing quote marks.) I don't want to not say it and then get chewed out. --LauraHale (talk) 09:08, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert

On my userpage, that was kind of funny though. BTW, I read a few pages of your translation, looks pretty good. Mark Arsten (talk) 02:17, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Crisco 1492, I'm just about to start the copy-edit you requested on the above article. Fell free to revert or correct me if I add or remove something I shouldn't, or to contact me if you need to tell me anything important that's not obvious from the article. I'm sorry it's taken so long for your request to be answered - you just can't get the staff these days! Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 02:48, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi again, I've finished the copy-edit; congratulations on the promotion of the article to FA. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 01:50, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Crisco 1492. Congratulations on getting Chrisye to Featured Article. I've removed your GOCE request for it as you've already succeeded. Sorry we didn't get there in time. Best regards, --Stfg (talk) 13:38, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Cultural Properties

Hi there, I'm trying to update List of heritage registers and saw there's nothing yet for Indonesia, so you seemed the obvious person to come to (will take this to the Wikiproject if you're not interested, which is of course fine); I couldn't immediately find anything by general search or on the Culture Ministry website - but here on the UNESCO Database of National Cultural Heritage Laws there seem to be several laws relating to Indonesian Cultural Properties. Don't know if you would be interested/able to add a brief new introductory page or at least a couple of links? Once such a start is made, tables can follow, then red links can gradually turn blue, or something like that... Don't know if there's something on the Indonesian Wikipedia? Thanks, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 15:23, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

  • This article on a kerfuffle (big news back in late 2011) suggests those are provincial laws. I don't know if there is a national list. I'll try asking the Missus later. Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:47, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Interesting, and thanks, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 00:22, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I found some cultural heritage sites (Benda cagar budaya; not necessarily buildings), with a partial list here (the ones on that list mostly have articles, from what I saw). This suggests that there are 8,232 (!) such sites as of 2008. Can't find a full list. Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:34, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
This law is what regulates the BCBs Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:36, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Have just seen your additions: must be one of the most satisfying pages I've ever worked on - at least one other person in the world interested and involved! Lots of nice links, great DYK, and what an image, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 17:54, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

I've done 11 DYK reviews today, including 2 or 3 that should be good to go right now. Any chance you can get Template:Did you know nominations/Anguilla women's national football team reviewed? There are currently I think 20 unreviewed hooks dating back to April 27 to April 30, with all earlier ones having some form of review done now. --LauraHale (talk) 11:29, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Ruma Maida

The article Ruma Maida you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Ruma Maida for things which need to be addressed. Every one of these films I review for you makes me feel guiltier and guiltier for not working on articles like The Wind That Shakes the Barley or Hunger. :( GRAPPLE X 01:57, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Huh?  — Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:39, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
Blegh. There's a long story attached to this, involving a Persian uncle-in-law who converted to the Church of Christ but kept his dietary restrictions, which are followed to some extent at Thanksgiving. Ground turkey--I prepared the burgers and it was like squeezing wet cat food. They are totally tasteless too. Drmies (talk) 02:47, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi,

I think the volcano pic and the supernova pic are too much alike and would like to switch out one. Not a lot to choose from. Hate to use File:Sheepscombe St Johns Church.jpg (that guy's face is probably too much, but maybe ok File:Lucky Diamond Rich face.jpg. If I change something, feel free to revert! MathewTownsend (talk) 19:27, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Actually, I think his face is rather effective, if edgy. Kind of delivers a bounce to the page! I buffed up the article on him a bit. That photo was a featured picture on the German wp. MathewTownsend (talk) 21:24, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Hate to bother you, but...

Do you think you'd be able to take a look at Wikipedia:Peer review/Episode 2 (Twin Peaks)/archive1 for me? My only real concern now is just how to structure the "reception" section, I've mentioned a few ideas in there for how to do it and some insight from an editor who's always producing some high-quality content would be a terrific bonus. And don't worry, the Ruma Maida FAC is still on my to-do list, I've just been a little distracted with the football on today... :P GRAPPLE X 21:16, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Question on Featured Article inclusion at Signpost

I was and still am rather hesitant to bring this up, since it feels like i'm just blowing my own horn, but...I was wondering, I assume the cutoff happens in ten hours time for what's considered this week and next week, right? Because Cracker Barrel just passed, but the bot hasn't come through to mark it yet and could do that at any time. Is it considered a part of the current issue that will be coming out in ten hours or is it pushed to next week's issue? SilverserenC 03:38, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

I see it is called National Hero of Indonesia. Heroine refers to the spouse of the male hero. Not sure about the wording in the lead "is a National Heroine of Indonesia". --NGC 2736 (talk) 00:57, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Hmm, bad mistake on my part. I seriously thought "heroine" refers to spouse of hero. Effects of Bollywood, I guess, LOL. Well, I just tried to point out that the word "hero" is now considered gender-neutral. See, for example, The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language which defines hero as "A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life". See this, specifically this. Now if the official papers call her "heroine", then it will be the only suitable title, of course. --NGC 2736 (talk) 01:13, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
