Hi Theroadislong,
I was informed that the article isn't notable, but there is already an approved page for it in another language. Can you take a look? https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renolit
Also, got this message as part of my welcome saying something like 'don't be afraid, anyone can edit / create a page. Be bold!" TikTech (talk) 22:52, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Renolit, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi Seraphimblade,
I am not trying to spam or advertise this company as I have no connection to it. I only found out about the company yesterday and tried to read about it, but there is only a German page it seems. I'm only trying to put up an English version. I am a long time Wikipedia reader, but first time contributor. I respect your post here at Wikipedia, but again I asure you I am not trying to advertise. I think this response is a bit heavy handed as this is my first try at posting / editing a page. TikTech (talk) 21:52, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It was your second, and you posted the identical thing after it was speedily deleted the first time. Did the first deletion not give you the idea that maybe you shouldn't put up the exact same thing again? Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:05, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, that makes sense now. I think I started this process this morning, but I didn't understand this was considered a second attempt, especially since I received different reasons. First I was told I didn't have citations / references, so I added those. Then this time I was told the company wasn't "notable", even though there is a German page of the same company. That did not make sense to me so I went to the chat room where I was told of stricter requirements. I saw that the article had a estimated window of 3 months, so I figured I had more time to fine tune the article while I waited (at least that's what the Wikipedia instructions mentioned). I would like my account to be reactivated, but I also want to learn the rules and do things the right way. Each step of this has been a learning experience, and I want to keep improving and contributing.
Could you explain more as to why there is so much difficulty in adding an English version of a page that is already there? Thanks again for any other info and clarity you can provide. TikTech (talk) 22:15, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I read your profile and again, thanks for your contributions. We have some common ground and sort of glad our paths crossed so early on. Hopefully I can be unbanned and we work together more in the future. I'm sure a rookie like me can learn a lot from a veteran such as yourself.
By the way here is the already approved German page. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renolit TikTech (talk) 22:26, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I didn't realize it was deleted the first time. I just thought it hadn't been approved yet and I needed to keep making improvements. TikTech (talk) 22:30, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the company might be notable, or might not. Also, keep in mind that each language Wikipedia has its own criteria for that, so something being acceptable on the German Wikipedia doesn't mean it would be here, nor vice versa. But the article in question was heavily promotional, such as: among the global leaders in plastic processing, for a wide range of applications, a bullet list of "Look at what you can buy!", the Worms-based family company, and on and on like that. I admittedly know nothing of how things are done on the German Wikipedia, but that kind of promotional language sure won't fly here. So, I'd strongly advise you take some time editing existing articles before trying to create a new one, as that's very difficult to do, and also read through what neutrality means on the English Wikipedia. If you're willing to agree to refrain from editing about Renolit, at least for quite some time, I'd be willing to unblock you. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:51, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, please unblock me and yes I will back off of trying to get a Renolit up for now. I will do some editing, and I will even reach out to you for clarity before I try to submit it again. I understand how the "among the global leaders..." line should be removed, thanks for pointing that out, but... What's the difference when Intel mentions ~ 'look - we sell processors for servers, desktops, laptops, cars, video game consoles, etc' ?
I found the following on the Intel page:
Industries
Operating segments
  • Client Computing Group – 51.8% of 2020 revenues – produces PC processors and related components.
  • Data Center Group – 33.7% of 2020 revenues – produces hardware components used in server, network, and storage platforms.
  • Internet of Things Group – 5.2% of 2020 revenues – offers platforms designed for retail, transportation, industrial, buildings and home use.
  • Programmable Solutions Group – 2.4% of 2020 revenues – manufactures programmable semiconductors (primarily FPGAs).
Customers
In 2023, Dell accounted for about 19% of Intel's total revenues, Lenovo accounted for 11% of total revenues, and HP Inc. accounted for 10% of total revenues. As of May 2024, the U.S. Department of Defense is another large customer for Intel. TikTech (talk) 23:10, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That kind of is crap, too, maybe I'll try to clean that up a bit. That's a bit of the hazard of looking at some other article for what to do; it might not be in very good shape either. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:23, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In any case, you certainly seem to want to do better, so I'd like to give you a chance to. I've unblocked your account accordingly. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:24, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! TikTech (talk) 23:37, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a little concerned about your account name. Does it represent a business or organization? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:04, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I do always check that, Drm310. There's a computer repair service in Virginia named that (and apparently they also jump start cars?), and their "testimonials" are clearly dishonest, but this editor wasn't spamming anything related to that, so I don't think there's any concern there. Seraphimblade Talk to me 16:34, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Drm310, no I'm not related to the computer repair service in Virginia. How can you tell reviews are fake? A perfect 5 star rating is a clue, but there are only 31 reviews. If there were over 500 and still a perfect 5 stars then maybe I'd be suspicious. TikTech (talk) 03:09, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've gotten pretty good at spotting AI generation and marketese junk. So, as unsatisfying as the answer probably is, I know it when I see it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:36, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
