NPP Awards for 2023

The New Page Reviewer's Iron Award

For over 360 article reviews during 2023. Well done! Keep up the good work and thank you! Dr vulpes (Talk) 02:50, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Williams

[edit]

I restored Sam Williams (record producer) to what I believe is a valid version that existed mid-2023, and advised Laura that as she has Williams as a client, she must declare a paid relationship and limit her input to proposing changes on the Talk page of the article. The history of this article is a horrible mess because back in 2023 an editor (since blocked) was attempting to hijack the article to make it about a different person by the same name. David notMD (talk) 10:21, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks for the explanation. Wikishovel (talk) 10:24, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for reviewing it. Do you think it qualifies for AfD?   — Jeff G. ツ 10:52, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yes I think so. All I can find in an online search in English is about the same as the current sources: a mix of interviews (WP:PRIMARY) in RS like Daily Trust, Daily Nigerian and Nigerian Tribune, and puff pieces on music blogs. The RS also pretty consistently describe her as "upcoming", "budding", etc. She's put out a single EP, with no charts in evidence, and the sources cited for regular radio rotation are quite weak: one is a wobbly mobile video clip of something on a laptop in a radio station, taken by the article creator: [1]. Wikishovel (talk) 12:03, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. See also User talk:Jeff G.#Starry Wikipedia.   — Jeff G. ツ 15:10, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.@Wikishovel Kindly see this for the chart cite [2] it also talked about the radio play Princeisrael2728 (talk) 17:36, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Princeisrael2728: Which chart is that, exactly?   — Jeff G. ツ 17:48, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Number 1 on iTunes Princeisrael2728 (talk) 17:52, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please see WP:Record charts, especially the "deprecated charts" section. Topping a single-retailer chart like iTunes isn't considered to confer notability on Wikipedia. Wikishovel (talk) 18:00, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Should I edit out that part ? Princeisrael2728 (talk) 18:34, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's up to you, but the overall problem with the article is that it doesn't yet show how she meets the guidelines for notability: please see WP:MUSICBIO and WP:GNG. Wikishovel (talk) 18:51, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have checked this .. Rotation airplay on Hot FM should also count I think. That's also part of notability and there is actually a cite for it as well Princeisrael2728 (talk) 19:13, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.
@Wikishovel I am still waiting for your opinion on this. Princeisrael2728 (talk) 14:06, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My opinion is unchanged since my first reply: she's not yet notable enough for a separate article. Wikishovel (talk) 14:13, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikishovel can I send you more cite for rotation airplay Princeisrael2728 (talk) 16:42, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, just add them to the article if they're WP:Reliable sources. Wikishovel (talk) 17:12, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Princeisrael2728: I agree with Wikishovel on this.   — Jeff G. ツ 12:30, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G. @Wikishovel ok.. I will add the airplay sources Princeisrael2728 (talk) 14:10, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Church of Bangladesh

[edit]

Dear Wikishovel, I hope you are doing well. I wanted to inform you that this editor, whom you reverted, has returned to edit the same articles, Church of Bangladesh and Samuel Sunil Mankhin. I am pinging User:Joyous!, who protected the articles last time. I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 13:34, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I see that User:Anupam is keeping an eye on both articles. Wikishovel (talk) 16:21, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Orhan Awatramani

[edit]

Hi Wikishovel!! This is regarding the new article on Orhan Awatramani. I see, in the Personal life and Controversy part, there were some change made by you about the his relationships. He was rumored to be in relationship with Janhvi Kapoor, later they revealed they are just friend. Also he not a reality show contestant, he was only seen in Bigg Boss season 17, but he was not contesting. So can we make some changes in the article? Pirateinthesea (talk) 15:28, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please have a read of WP:RUMOUR: Wikipedia doesn't repeat unsubstantiated gossip and speculation. If Awatramani confirms in a WP:Reliable source that he's dating someone, then we can document that.
That's interesting about Bigg Boss though: please do correct the error. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 15:46, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks for sharing the resources, I am still new to Wikipedia and learning about editing and all, sure I'll go through it. And one more thing about the title, are braces are not allowed in the titles? I am asking because his real name is Orhan Awatramani but he is popularly know as Orry only. So can't we have that in the title? Pirateinthesea (talk) 16:55, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They're used for WP:Disambiguation, and though there are several people called Orry, there's only one article about someone called Orhan Awatramani.
But if you're saying that his WP:COMMONNAME is Orry, then we could move the page to something like Orry (influencer) or Orry (internet personality) etc. Wikishovel (talk) 17:10, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Just to let you know I removed your WP:G3 tag from the above draft as although it may look like vandalism I do believe it is an actual attempt at an article; sheep counting language is a real thing. The draft is of course a duplicate that is not needed, but not eligible under G3 for deletion. CoconutOctopus talk 18:59, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@CoconutOctopus: hi, you're right, it wasn't vandalism. I can now see similarities of some of those numbers to Welsh. OK, time for an apology to that editor: I rushed to judgment because of their prior history of vandalism. Thanks! Wikishovel (talk) 03:29, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Wikishovel,

When you see a misplaced article consider that maybe it's better to move it to Draft space rather than main space. Just a suggestion. Have a good week! Liz Read! Talk! 08:38, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That would have been better, you're right. When I see a missing lead section, I usually just write a short one, but for that article, not a clue. Indian history is just too vast to comprehend sometimes. Wikishovel (talk) 08:41, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Quite possibly notable. I may try to make an article. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:49, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can see RS for her online, probably all it needs is someone who doesn't work for her agent to write the article, right? Wikishovel (talk) 13:54, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And that's us! Well, I can't speak for you, obviously, but my bias leans that way. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:57, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to help. Wikishovel (talk) 14:04, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Some are eligible now but I left them so that CUs can see the histories due to some private info sent via email. --CNMall41 (talk) 08:16, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK I'll leave it alone then until the SPI is closed. (checks calendar for around end of April...) Wikishovel (talk) 08:18, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In case you didn't know, the subject-area (Ekpa) has had a lot of socking:[3], see also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Biafra Republic Government in Exile. The current BLA article does have 2 maybe somewhat RS sources, hopefully independent, that mention the article subject, but it's not good per WP:N. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:31, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, hadn't spotted that AFD, but yes secessionist groups are always a hotbed of POV, socking, and all the rest, so I'm keeping an eye. I added those first two sources that actually mention the group: they seem to be from RS (the newspapers have WP articles at any rate), but their wording seems not quite neutral - not sure what's the best course there.
Ekpa's bio currently lists his work as "activism", but as he recently announced formation of a rebel army, that's going to need a change of wording. Wikishovel (talk) 08:44, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but him announcing stuff doesn't necessarily make it so. We'll see what happens. I may afd the BLA,, don't think PROD would work here, but thanks for adding sources that mentions the group, I like your thinking. They seem to be mostly "Ekpa says", though. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:52, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly talk is cheap, and he seems to be a bit of a self-publicist pol, but there must be a better word than "activist" for someone effectively declaring war on Nigeria. Wikishovel (talk) 08:57, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"Agitator" has some coverage in sources, but "activist" is common[4]. I think the Ekpa-article can be greatly improved, my problem is that it's hard to judge African sources for RS-ness, and I don't read Finnish. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:41, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Some more Ekpa-WP/Commons history: [5][6] [7] (2 threads), [8][9]. Challenging, somewhat. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:10, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and apparently there is Ekpa's org [10] and then another org [11] with a similar name. That'll simplify things, not. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:55, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, marvy... Wikishovel (talk) 08:57, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And the BLA declares their logo to be in the public domain, [12] that's generous of them. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:27, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

More Ekpa-stuff, if you're up to taking a look/some action: [13]

Luna MC moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Luna MC. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. JoeNMLC (talk) 15:47, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I only added a reference and a few categories, but thanks for letting me know. Draftifying it is a good idea. Wikishovel (talk) 15:50, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Good evening. I am from the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is a post-Soviet country. I wrote the first article in English Wikipedia about the Kazakhstan petition site, which gave a breath of air to freedom of speech and democracy in Kazakhstan. The site raised topics such as stripping the first president of immunity and renaming the capital, which were completed successfully. The article indicated all authoritative sources and evidence of significance. I have a big request for you, please check my article. I hope my article has the right to exist. Thank you for your contribution, I wish you all the best. Zzremin (talk) 17:50, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi can you pls provide with one article Perfect Master and Perfect Master (Meher Baba) and give me so that I can correct copyright issues. Fostera12 (talk) 10:34, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm sorry but I don't understand your request. Wikishovel (talk) 10:38, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why dont you think before you put deletion tags on articles? How can you put deletion tag on a page just now updated by me? when there was no deletion tag before ? secondly how can you maintain both articles and create ambiguity. Remove deletion tag on the article which I updated, and copyright material I will delete. If reference doeasnt mention meher baba concept of perfect master im there right, I will update. Stop complicating my work everytime.Fostera12 (talk) 11:36, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is redirected already, (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Perfect_Master_(Meher_Baba)&redirect=no) kindly dont complicate this. Thanks Fostera12 (talk) 11:41, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And you cant out of the blue add speedy deletions, I am updating it just wait.Fostera12 (talk) 11:43, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

PLEASE STOP YOUR NONSENSE. I AM NOT GOING TO CONTEST YOUR NON SENSE ON 2 SAME ARTICLES. Fostera12 (talk) 11:44, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing the speedy deletion tag from Perfect Master: you copied it from a blog, and Wikipedia cannot host copyrighted content, as I've explained at your user talk page. You are going to get blocked by an adminstrator if you don't stop your disruptive editing. Wikishovel (talk) 11:46, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I DID NOT COPY IT FROM A BLOG. HOW MANY TIMES I SHOULD TELL YOU ? THE BLOG MATERIAL WAS COPIED FROM WIKIPEDIA, CANT YOU GET IT ? Fostera12 (talk) 11:48, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
JUST REMOVE THAT COPIED CONTENT IF IT IS AN ISSUE. WHY ARE YOU EATING AWAY ARTICLES? Fostera12 (talk) 11:49, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then let an administrator decide. You cannot remove a speedy deletion tag from an article you created yourself. Wikishovel (talk) 11:50, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
you first remove that copied content, and update tag accordingly. Instead you deliberately complicate and abuse fellow editors. Fostera12 (talk) 11:51, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are of course free to report me to the administrators if you believe my edits breach any Wikipedia rules or guidelines. In the meantime, you must stop removing the speedy deletion tag yourself. Wikishovel (talk) 11:53, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's a mirror of Wikipedia, so I'll remove the speedy tag. The problem remains though, that you are doing multiple copy and paste moves to suit your preferred naming. As I explained at your user talk page, you need to propose potentially controversial moves like that at WP:PCM. Wikishovel (talk) 11:57, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Perfect Master (Meher Baba) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Nicole Starrett wiki page

Nicole Starrett's wiki page is available in German language Dog Starkiller08 (talk) 13:37, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's right: if you look at the top right of Nicole Starrett, there's a little menu showing the languages it's available in on other language wikis: there's a link to the article on German Wikipedia there. Wikishovel (talk) 13:56, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But can't this English language article be stopped from being deleted? Dog Starkiller08 (talk) 14:30, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Each of the Wikipedias has their own guidelines for what's notable enough for a separate article, so sometimes an article will get deleted from the German Wikipedia, but not the English one, und so weiter.
You're welcome to join the discussion of course, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nicole Starrett. Wikishovel (talk) 14:38, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can't we stop this English language article from being deleted? Dog Starkiller08 (talk) 14:53, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The deletion discussion will normally take about a week or so to complete. As I mentioned, you're welcome to join the discussion and explain there about how the subject is notable enough for a separate article. New page review

[edit]

You marked Draft:Francisco Hernandez (politician) as reviewed but I had to move this article into draft space as it contains serious errors. The person is not an MP yet as James Shaw has only indicated that he will resign from parliament, but we don't know when that will happen; it may not happen this year. And when it does happen, Hernandez will be offered a list MP position but we don't know whether he will accept that. As such, the bio was plain wrong. Thought you might be interested in knowing that. Why is a open source platform any one can edit Faltu Katha (talk) 09:48, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but it also has rules and guidelines, agreed by consensus, which all editors must observe when editing. If any of the notices about this on your user talk page are unclear, then you might like to ask for help at the WP:Teahouse. Wikishovel (talk) 09:56, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your deliberate nonsense of speedy deletions again and again, this is not the first time you are doing this and failing in your attempts. This article is originally created by me it has no resemblances whatsoever. I dont even know it was created earlier. What is your problem with India related articles? The article created earlier was misinformed. This is the correct article. Stop creating false alarms. Fostera12 (talk) 13:11, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please have a look at previous versions of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival and Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards on archive.org. It is nearly identical, apart from somme of the press releases being newer. I and others nominate pages for speedy deletion as part of Wikipedia:New pages patrol when they meet speedy deletion criteria, so there's no need to feel singled out. You simply made an honest mistake, that's all. We all make them, every day. Wikishovel (talk) 13:29, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have not created that article, the name is different, cant you see? Fostera12 (talk) 13:30, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's right, they were created by other editors, several times. But the WP:CSD#G4 criteria still apply, on this article that you've created. Wikishovel (talk) 13:31, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

what is your problem, it was not notable in 2019, now it is notable Fostera12 (talk) 13:33, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please let an administrator decide that. Please. You're going to get blocked if you keep removing the speedy deletion tag. Wikishovel (talk) 13:34, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Administrator will delete as you have lobbied enough already. This is against fair practice. You first check this version and tell me why it should be deleted. Fostera12 (talk) 14:14, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Whom have I "lobbied"? That's a rather serious accusation, without evidence. You, on the other hand, have been posting to several other editors' talk pages (DaxServer, Doug Weller, SpacemanSpiff, GSS and C1K98V) asking them to take action against me on some vague grounds of wrongdoing, or otherwise intervene in the deletion nomination.
You also told me at your user talk page that I shouldn't post there anymore, yet you're still posting here. That doesn't seem very fair. Wikishovel (talk) 14:19, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline / reject before speedy

[edit]

Hi, Wikishovel and thanks for all you do here! Would it be possible for you to decline or reject drafts before tagging them for speedy deletion so that they get immediately removed from the queue while waiting for administrator action? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 13:13, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Now that you mention it, it seems obvious. And yes, happy to help: I'll sign up for AfC review before tagging any more drafts, and will work on reducing that backlog. Wikishovel (talk) 13:50, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AfC reviewer

[edit]

Hi Wikishovel, I just saw your application at WT:AFCP and wanted to inform you that you no longer need to go through a separate application process for AfC participation. All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for reviewing Articles for Creation drafts. Thanks! – DreamRimmer (talk) 17:11, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yay, instant gratification! Wikishovel (talk) 17:12, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Have you had the chance to install the AFC Helper Script? If not, you can check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Helper script#Installation for guidance on how to get it set up. – DreamRimmer (talk) 17:26, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it was right there in the Gadgets section of Prefs all along, and ready to use. Seems pretty intuitive. Wikishovel (talk) 18:05, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for helping out at AfC. Just a heads up. You might have to deal with a lot of editors lining up in your talk page, asking for detailed explanation on getting a decline. So you can have a page like User:The Herald/AfC Essentialities and put it up on your talk page notice.
Another thing is you might have to face multiple requests of submitters asking to re review their draft. Even though it ain't per se wrong, it is unfair for the older submissions. So, you can use Category:AfC pending submissions by age/8 weeks ago to start the reviews and move up. It will help to keep the backlog in check better. Thanks again for helping out. Good luck and happy editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 18:35, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice, it all sounds quite helpful. Wikishovel (talk) 19:02, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! @Wikishovel.. why you move the draft page when i already created the new one and have been added more reliable sources than the page you moved? Its much better than that.. why not my article? Leklu (talk) 12:46, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The original page was created in 2020. We can't just move that page to draft, and create a new one at another spelling. You're very welcome to improve the article at Kim Seung-hun‎, with WP:Secondary, WP:Reliable sources, but in its current state, both the existing article and the second version you created would be unlikely to be kept following an WP:Articles for deletion discussion. Please see WP:MUSICBIO for more information about notability guidelines for musicians. Thank you. Wikishovel (talk) 12:57, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Snazzysugarplum/Violence and intersectionality

[edit]

Hello, that was not a "sandbox in the main space" it was in the correct space. I have reverted the changes, you may notice in the sandbox there are lines and italics used as I edit? but not in the article. furthermore I am a student in a course, which you can tell if you look at my user page. you deleted content, that had not been graded. so my talk is gone, and I am not sure how to get that back so my professor, which whom I have had a difficult term, can grade and see...I worked very hard on this and was proud of my work. please just check in with students before deleting work. I had asked for help about how to move materials to the main article page and was just going to leave it and had emailed my professor that there was work to be graded and then it was deleted. so great... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snazzysugarplum (talkcontribs) 21:43, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't deleted anything. You know this because you've moved it back to main space. There is already an article called Violence and intersectionality, so there's no need for a second article on the same subject called Snazzysugarplum/Violence and intersectionality. Another editor will shortly move it back to your user sandbox where it belongs. If you want to merge content from there to the existing article, then you're free to do so. CSD G5s

[edit]

Hello, Wikishovel,

Please read Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#G5. Creations by banned or blocked users carefully. CSD G5 is not a criteria for being the work of a sockpuppet but for being the creation of an editor who is evading a block. The editor you identified as the sockmaster was only blocked today so these articles were not created while any of these editors were blocked so there was no block evasion going on. This is usually the case when a sockmaster is first identified because they are only now getting blocked. Any pages created by future sockpuppets would qualify for CSD G5s but not for a recently indentified and blocked account. But don't feel bad, G5 is one of the trickiest criteria, you have to see when the sockmaster account was created, when they were blocked, when the other accounts were created and blocked and the date of creation for the article. Everything has to line up properly. Thank you for your diligence though. Liz Read! Talk! 05:29, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean, thanks. That "master" is also quite likely not the actual master, but until the real master is identified, we're stuck. Wikishovel (talk) 05:37, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Liz: in cases like these, is it against guidelines to move the articles created by socks (though presumably not by the first account) to draft? Wikishovel (talk) 06:05, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Killing of Joanna Simpson

[edit]

Hey, I saw that you changed the Killing of Joanna Simpson article back into a draft earlier in the month. It has since been published again- have you had a chance to look at it since? I'm not experienced enough to say whether it is ready to be in the public sphere, but it has some pretty glaring issues. Any thoughts? Because it is such a new page, I thought it might be better to come here than use the Talk section on the page. Hope that was ok. Thanks :) Mr Blumenthal (talk) 17:58, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, it's improved since it went to draft. I've removed a very long quote of a phone call transcript, which made the article a bit too long and difficult to navigate, and also fixed a few headings. My main concern is still the sources used. Hello! magazine is a junk celebrity gossip tabloid, and not a WP:Reliable source. The article also relies quite heavily on some YouTube channels like Crime Analyst, and an ITV show about the crime. ITV News is a reliable source, but their sensationalist entertainment output is not. Thanks for asking, hope that helps. Wikishovel (talk) 19:21, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me. I can totally see the advances you have made. I'll try to keep chipping away at it to clean it up from incorrect syntax and poor sources. Mr Blumenthal (talk) 13:39, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Because nearly all of the text you edit was plagiarised from copyrighted sources, as was explained to you at your original user talk page. But I've posted the explanation to your new user talk page as well. Wikishovel (talk) 09:04, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please tell me which Paragraph(Famous meetings, Travel to Gyanganj etc)was plagiarised so that I can remove it. Akhila257 (talk) 09:21, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I do hate to ask, but do you mind casting an eye over the history of this article and making sure I didn't throw out anything worthwhile? It's been the subject of quite a bit of IP and vandal activity over the past half-month, but there do appear to have been a few legitimate things added in that I missed on first pass. I think I caught them all last night, but wouldn't mind another pair of eyes taking a look. New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

[edit]

Hello Wikishovel,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

The Crimean slave trade

[edit]

Thank you for your action regarding the article The Crimean slave trade. I voted to delete the article rather then merge. There was not much to merge except the title itself, since the article is essentially an essay of bias appologetism for this particular form of slavery. However, I almost regret my vote know; because it means that the article The Crimean slave trade is still there. I am concerned, since it is an article of bias appologetism. The topic the Crimean slave trade and slavery in the Crimean Khanate is in fact already redirected and included in the Black Sea slave trade article (neutrally and referenced). It would be best if this article is in fact deleted. The author have proven themselwes to have a bias agenda. I am not sure how to deal with the issue, but I thought I should mention my concerns to someone who may know better. Aciram (talk) 18:23, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking of opening up a WP:SPI, but am not sure whether that's the right course for logged-out editing. Wikishovel (talk) 18:41, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do not know enough to say, but the user:Someone Qırımlı appear to have at least one sock puppet, User:AzaqQara, beside at least two IP-adresses, at least according to my impression. I might be wrong, but both user names appear to be of the Crimean Tatars language, which may explain the apparent bias in the issue of slaver in the Crimean Tatar Khanate, and the agenda to make it appear benevolent and erase any negative information concerning it. --Aciram (talk) 18:52, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, I missed that sock account. SPI filed, thanks very much. Wikishovel (talk) 19:02, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am happy to be of service! How may this affect the article in question? --Aciram (talk) 19:46, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article will likely be reverted back to a point where the disruptive editing started. Either way, I'll just be happy for the current disruptive editing to end. Wikishovel (talk) 20:12, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring to the Draft:The Crimean slave trade; since it was created by the user, it was bias from the beginning and can not be reverted back to a good version. In my opinion it should be deleted, considering the user's apparent bias agenda, which concerns me, and I think it is unfortunate if it is allowed to remain. But I understand. --Aciram (talk) 22:31, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Karen Hunanyan moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Karen Hunanyan.

Stifle (talk) 09:36, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea, thanks: it was a poorly sourced WP:BLP making quite significant claims about involvement in a crime. Wikishovel (talk) 09:38, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Wacca (disambiguaton) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 17:03, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That arose from my moving new page Wacca (disambiguaton) (by another editor) to Wacca (disambiguation). Seems like a plausible typo to me, but I won't contest the speedy. Wikishovel (talk) 17:06, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic article creation

[edit]

Hi Wikishovel. Regarding the Ancient Roman stubs being created in quantity by Edgar Aetheling 25 that continue to have incorrectly formatted refs and several other editing flaws although several editors, including yourself, have now pulled Edgar A 25 up on this, at what point does this become disruptive or incompetent? I see that you've often fixed the ref issue and I've done a lot of the others, but it's becoming tiresome - how long should community patience last, and what is the best next step if Edgar continues not to hear? or do we just grit our teeth and keep on fixing? Ingratis (talk) 08:01, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thanks for asking. It's probably not a matter for WP:ANI yet, but a firmer request for dialogue at their user talk is called for, since they haven't bothered to reply about it so far. Redirect

[edit]

How exactly is the topic covered in greater detail at the redirect target? What about 2024? — IмSтevan talk 22:27, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The target article had sources, named the contestant's instrument and songs, gave a bit of history on Serbia's participation in the contest, and named the broadcaster. The 2024 article is in fine shape. Wikishovel (talk) 03:43, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Wikishovel. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Mridul200820, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: New editor. Page mover granted

[edit]

Hello, Wikishovel. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Useful links:

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 15:14, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Parallel

[edit]

Thanks for the redirect on Parallel (tool). Didn't see the existing one. Still looking for a good text reference; wouldn't have occurred to me to use the McMaster Carr catalog as a reference. LDC (talk) 22:10, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Lee Daniel Crocker: hi, happy to have helped with this. Unfortunately the existing article is almost completely unsourced, and the McMaster-Carr catalog reference is unsuitable and needs to be replaced. The second reference is a bit unclear, but we should be able to clarify it with a bit of digging. I'll have a go at improving the references today, and would be grateful for your help in finding more and better sources. Wikishovel (talk) 06:01, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just an FYI: the language of this draft is Belarusian, not Russian. (You can tell by the presence of the 'і' character, which does not appear in Russian.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:25, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for tripping things up over Ucodelite

[edit]

As I explain on the AFD page, amidst checking various shenanigans regarding Ucodelite, I missed that the AFD on it was new and not part of a recreation of the page as it was at deletion. My movig it to draft space was not meant to trip up your efforts. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 13:39, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem, and it was easily fixed. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 13:51, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Needed your assistance

I saw your message regarding the copyright content you discover @Every woman in this village is a liar. I need your assistance. Please don't be angry. Usimite (talk) 07:07, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm not angry, and am sorry if my post at your talk page sounded angry. The copyrighted text simply needs to be removed, that's all. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 07:09, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please help me remove it or guide me on what I need to do. I'm willing to learn and contribute to the wikipedia.
Usimite (talk) 07:12, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've already removed the copyrighted text, and all that's left is for an administrator to hide the copyrighted revisions in the article's revision history. So you don't need to do anything at this point. Happy editing! Wikishovel (talk) 07:14, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why you are removing my content everytime I post? I am adding citations but before saving my Article you made changes and conflict arises. Vishwakarma-anie (talk) 18:23, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So far, the new section you've been re-adding has had no sources at all, and written in a highly promotional tone. And next time you move another editor's user page, you're going to get blocked from editing by an administrator. Wikishovel (talk) 18:31, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Really sorry, I am new to wikipedia. Now I have added various sources and citation in Ramgopal Suthar article, please dont Nominate for deletion, The sources are in Hindi but they are genuine and reliable as they have a large audience.

Hi, I see you caught one of my students plagiarizing. This has not happened in my experience doing Wikipedia assignments before. It looks like all copies have been deleted from Wikipedia. Is there anyway for me to get a copy of what they posted to see if any disciplinary action is warranted at my end. Thank you for your efforts and any other advice on how to handle these situations would be greatly appreciated. I apologize for the students misbehavior and not catching it sooner. Jparcoeur (talk) 23:15, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the administrator who hid the revisions with copyright is Nthep. The source copied was this web page. I'm not a Wikipedia admin (thank heavens), so I'm not sure what the policy is on copies of hidden revisions, but you could contact Nthep at their user talk page, or email them to ask about that. Thanks for your diligence, and I hope this doesn't go too badly for the student involved: a lot of people nowadays tend to assume "free to read equals free to copy", so I find myself explaining the difference nearly every day to new editors. Wikishovel (talk) 08:11, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, as I talk to the student I am suspecting that it was already plagiarized to a great extent the student may have just drawn attention to it by reposting parts with his edits. Jparcoeur (talk) 12:37, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My Wikipedia expert got me the deleted text and unfortunately much of it was cut and pasted. It looks like some of this was removed and a good portion is being close paraphrased from https://med.libretexts.org/Bookshelves/Anatomy_and_Physiology/Human_Anatomy_(OERI)/09%3A_Skeletal_Muscle_Tissue/9.04%3A_Muscle_Fiber_Contraction_and_Relaxation. I see you watching in the talk page and thought you should have the source to see if it needs to be reverted. It would be sad as it was an improvement. If it does go back, I'll get a different student to take a crack at it in the fall. Jparcoeur (talk) 17:55, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Would you be interested?

[edit]
Hello, Wikishovel,
I don't know if you remember me, but we both participated in a discussion on the talk page of Black Sea slave trade, and I appreciated your effort in that issue (the problematic user has reappeared there, but I trust they will not be succesful, since the matter seem settled). A similar issue has recently came up. Since you were interested in protecting Black Sea slave trade against attempts of bias, you may also be intrested in the talk page of slavery in al-Andalus; nothing has yet been done, but it likely will be.
A user who have shown what I believe to be bias have been allerted to the article: [17] The first user have adressed valid concerns which I have adressed, but M.Bitton have shown bias in other articles in this topic issue, and from what is said, I am concerned that this article will be subjected to bias editing. You will see my concerns on the article talk page. Since posting that, another user has allerted me that M.Bitton may have been on ANI for bias editing, but I do not know if that is correct.
Perhaps you could be persuaded to put the article in your watch list, and adress future bias editing by M.Bitton? I would have done it myself, but I must be honest enough to say that my health is not good enough to engage in such a thing, and I have been blunt enough to explain why in the talk page. But I am still concerned enough to want to at least attempt to do something to protect the article. Of course, there is no need for any action at all at present; but since I know you to be interested in the subject, I would be grateful to know that a non-bias and serious contributor with respect for a non bias view had the article under watch. If you are not intereted, perhaps you can recomend another user to contact? Thanks. All the best, Aciram (talk) 11:24, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, and thanks for asking. I'm sorry to hear about the health concerns, and I wish I could help, but unfortunately am completely lacking in the expertise (and patience) needed for a task like that. Why do you draft my added article on AM frequency list of stations?

[edit]

As I've seen that most FM frequency have articles with list of stations corresponding to its frequency. Why for the AM stations, you drafted the articles I've made? For example, 594 AM carries DZBB-AM in Quezon City and DXDB-AM in Malaybalay. Those stations are familiar so it must be added an article. CryingSulfur (talk) 12:21, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No need to worry: please see Wikipedia:Drafts. If you create the article as a draft, you can take as long as you need to get the article into shape, and submit it for review. The only reason it might get deleted in draft is if it's something that meets Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. You should be fine. Wikishovel (talk) 16:24, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

About your technical request to move Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development

[edit]

Hey Wikishovel, I just moved this page from its previous title at Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (Nepal). For future reference, you are a page mover and have the technical ability to execute moves like these using a page swap. I like to use this script to partially automate the process, which can be a bit tedious to do manually. Let me know if you have any questions! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 23:37, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Completely forgot about round robin swaps. Wikishovel (talk) 03:10, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Wikishovel! Not to step on your toes - and especially since this is a part of policy I don't have the firmest grasp of - would it be more appropriate to CSD the article under G5, since the sockmaster is also blocked on en wiki? I haven't tagged it, but did leave a comment at the AfD. Sorry to bother, but just wanted to be sure! jellyfish  01:13, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to Sauganash Trail. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Eublemma rosea

[edit]

I wanted to correct the disambiguation link for Eublemma rosea because it links it to another different species within noctuidea, but it is not the same. If you look at the wikidata of both species, you can see that they are different [[18]] [[19]] and have different distribution areas and I don't know how to eliminate it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jorinosa (talkcontribs)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I think you're right, and I've started a short article at Eublemma rosea. You're welcome to help improve it: I am not an entomologist. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 16:43, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your understanding and for the warm welcome. I am only interested in entomology, but this moth is common in Spain and was not related to the other one, which is from a different area and from another group of moths within Noctuidea. Supersede

[edit]

Are you able to assess: Abi Carter will win next week and even if she didn't she will have an article. You could be in error. You could start a discussion page. Apparently you are "following" the topic. Headtothestripe (talk) 07:28, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If she wins next week, then she might well turn out to be notable, and an updated article written. But we can't simply ignore the AFD process: at the moment the article is virtually identical to the one deleted. Wikishovel (talk) 07:31, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She will win, you're kind of being ridiculous. If you look at Idol articles there has been a somewhat big slide towards nonsense. Let alone some people think the relevance of Idol is less. We? This is you and me right now. Less than nine people have weighed in on the article. You're making bad or weak arguments. Headtothestripe (talk) 07:40, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please see WP:CRYSTAL. I have no opinion on her notability. Wikishovel (talk) 07:45, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you understand you don't listen? You could remove yourself from this discourse and let the article be there. Notability? Admittedly, you yourself said you have no opinion. People can be wrong and they are. Look at the 20 plus seasons of the show and who gets covered. Pay attention to people continually trying to minimize things. Make a list if you must of arguments. You're just not right. Headtothestripe (talk) 07:48, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if you remove yourself then the article can be there. Headtothestripe (talk) 19:56, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia's policies exist for good reasons, and have been hammered out by consensus over a long period of time, thought and debate. If you disagree with those policies then, like any editor, you're free to propose changes to them. Wikishovel (talk) 20:00, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, there is zero good reason to make kerfuffles of this. Larry Sanger has nothing to do with the site and probably for good cause. You could look up any of the things I asked you about. Headtothestripe (talk) 20:09, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Updated? The article hasn't been allowed to be up to even be added to. You're arguing against yourself. Headtothestripe (talk) 20:14, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're also free to create a draft at Draft:Abi Carter, and submit it for review. If her notability has changed since the deletion discussion, then the reviewer will approve it, and move it to main space. Wikishovel (talk) 20:22, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An admin changed whatever you are thinking about. Abi Carter won AI; she now has an article and a talk page. Will Moseley may get a page as well. More contestants used to get articles. Emmy Russell will undoubtedly have one too soon. Headtothestripe (talk) 05:51, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, though it's a shame an admin had to protect the page until the contest actually ended. Please don't try to change the listed outcome of the previous AFD on the talk page again. Wikishovel (talk) 05:54, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wasn't intentional although the "discussions" were bizarre and shouldn't have even occurred. Headtothestripe (talk) 06:02, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please find other things to do besides argue. Headtothestripe (talk) 06:52, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nuns Island Theatre moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Nuns Island Theatre. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 13:56, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Another one of these. Maybe I should quit running Draftcleaner to do minor tidy-up on drafts. Wikishovel (talk) 13:58, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Asking you to stop

[edit]

I didn't go through all this hassle to have you nitpick anything. Stop. Headtothestripe (talk) 06:51, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to think I'm some sort of adversary. I'm not.
Wikipedia is a collaborative editing environment. Many other editors will make changes to the article you started. You might not agree with all of the changes made. That's OK: on Wikipedia, we work toward WP:Consensus, guided by policies which were also agreed by consensus. So based on some of those policies, I made this edit to stick to MOS:SURNAME, which says that we shouldn't repeatedly use someone's first name throughout the article. You've reverted my change: I won't undo your reversion, but please note that another editor will certainly make the same edit I did, and probably soon.
That edit linked above also removed some off-topic sentences about a venue where she played, sourced only by a reference that didn't mention her. That removal was based on the policies WP:Verify, WP:Biographies of living persons, and WP:OFFTOPIC. Thanks for then adding a reference that does verify that she played there, but the off-topic sentences about the bar will almost certainly get removed by another editor. Wikishovel (talk) 07:53, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You haven't been there so you don't know the significance. Listen, learn, ok? Headtothestripe (talk) 07:59, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You've been on Wikipedia for less than three months, and have so far edited only on the single topic of Abi Carter. Please read Wikipedia:Ownership of content. Wikishovel (talk) 08:06, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is not stopping. Cease, that's another word. I mean it. You didn't even see pertinent information. I hesitate to say get a life. Get off the computer, find something to do. Headtothestripe (talk) 08:11, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If my edits are in breach of Wikipedia policy, you are of course free to report me at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. Watch out for the boomerang. Wikishovel (talk) 08:16, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
These are the types of things which happen when you're making edits which either don't matter or in error. Did you see how someone who was being "remanded" by another editor turned around and deleted something, as it were to make them happier? I don't know why you can't find better things to do than trifle with something that could even have some importance. You aren't always right and you certainly aren't today. Headtothestripe (talk) 07:05, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon, but what am I not right about this time? I posted a polite message at your talk page explaining the three-revert rule that you've just breached, and I've made no further edits yet to Abi Carter or its talk page. Wikishovel (talk) 07:31, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The site (Wikipedia) can be nonsense sometimes. I can't even hold a simple poll or debate on that talk page. One user there was following another one to the page. They seem to either be more than a little clueless or trying to impress the other one. They're deleting that section. The one editor was criticizing the other one and then they jumped in on the talk page thing. Headtothestripe (talk) 07:36, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I really wouldn't bother with a poll. All you need to do is discuss the disputed text with your fellow editors at the talk page. They can't see why info about a golf course near where she once performed is relevant to the article, so please, just explain it there at Talk:Abi Carter, and get WP:Consensus for the wording you prefer. Wikishovel (talk) 07:44, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can't figure out that buildings, structures, facilities, stages, etc. don't exist in vacuums? People perform in 2 or more places occasionally on the same streets. Headtothestripe (talk) 07:52, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Abi Carter is the right place to make your argument. Wikishovel (talk) 08:11, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure what you are talking about. That user seems to think that LA can't be mentioned. Headtothestripe (talk) 22:01, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Refer back to the heading of this section. I asked you to stop being difficult or whatever you say it is that you are doing. You have not listened. Headtothestripe (talk) 22:04, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, you're not asking, you're demanding that every other editor ignore multiple Wikipedia policies for the Abi Carter article, and let you write whatever you want there. The answer is still no, and you're going to get blocked by an administrator very soon if you don't stop. Wikishovel (talk) 22:09, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are trying to change things that may be in the article, some may be things that I didn't even write. You are not even listening to anything that could be in your favor. Headtothestripe (talk) 22:12, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop posting here at my talk page. If you have something to discuss about the Abi Carter article, then discuss it at Talk:Abi Carter. 22:17, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

Sky Crime

[edit]

thanks for your reversion of my edit to Sky Crime. Sky Crime and Sky Krimi are two different channels operated by Sky Deutschland: https://www.sky.de/hilfe/abonnement/programm/sky-pakete-und-senderuebersicht-deutschland-sat-kabel

Does it make sense to have Sky Crime revert to Sky Krimi on WP if they are not the same channel? Griffindd (talk) 09:05, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, as there is already a Sky Krimi, the two articles should be disambiguated: isn't that already being done, in the See also section of Sky Crime? Wikishovel (talk) 09:18, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
there is Sky Crime and Sky Crime (German TV channel). If you go to Sky Crime (German TV channel, you get taken automatically to Sky Krimi Griffindd (talk) 09:43, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh OK, I see the problem now. The change you made earlier was unsourced. How about creating Draft:Sky Crime (German TV channel), get it reviewed, and then it can be merged to Sky Crime (German TV channel)? Wikishovel (talk) 09:47, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's OK to move an article to draft if it needs more work. Please don't be discouraged when that happens: it's for improving the article, not for deleting it. Wikishovel (talk) 20:17, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

May I ask, what's your first language? Is it French? If you're translating to English from French, I can help with that, as I'm a native English speaker, and a reasonably good reader of French. There are also editors over at Wikipedia:Translation who can help. Wikishovel (talk) 22:02, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hayes bypass

[edit]

Hi there.

You just reverted by edit on Hayes bypass for blanking the redirect. I didn't know I shouldn't do that, sorry about it. Also, I'm not sure how to do a RFD. I've read through it but it is quite confusing. There is another redirect named "Hayes Bypass", so it wouldn't make sense to have 2 redirects for the same thing. Can you please list the redirect "Hayes bypass" for discussion please? Thanks — Pedroperezhumberto (talk) 09:29, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's OK to have two redirects with similar spelling, since the main thing is helping readers navigate when they type something reasonable into search. How about we redirect "Hayes bypass" to A312 road#Hayes Bypass, same as "Hayes Bypass"? Wikishovel (talk) 09:32, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is fine on my end, but it wouldn't make sense to have 2 redirects having almost the same definition. Pedroperezhumberto (talk) 09:35, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll do it now, you can check when it's done. :-) Pedroperezhumberto (talk) 09:37, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. The problem with taking "Hayes bypass" to WP:RFD is that it having "bypass" with a lowercase "b" doesn't meet WP:RFD#DELETE: it's not an implausible typo, it's not broken, etc, so I don't think the proposed deletion will get any support. Wikipedia even has a template for redirects with other capitalisations: it's Template:R from other capitalisation. Wikishovel (talk) 09:44, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thanks for the help.
Let's keep the 2 redirects as they are. Pedroperezhumberto (talk) 09:46, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're very welcome, and thanks for the fix. Wikishovel (talk) 09:47, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sock of R2dra & Gaurav Bisen Powar

[edit]

@Wikishovel Once you file a SPI against against Rudra Simha and Alex Cupper and Gaurav Bisen Powar and added Rudra Simha in the list. A new user User:'Jhalasss' first Gaurav Bisen Powar edit Chavda dynasty he replaced Chavdas with Chavda Rajput[22] new sock few hours ago edited Chavda dynasty and added Chavda (Rajput clan)[23] & also created duplicate page of Chavda (Rajput clan) through a draft Draft:Chavda (Rajput clan). Through IP:2409:4052:8ec8:8c3:7d84:785:1130:201b[24] they made same sort of edits on Chavda[25], Chavda (Gurjar clan)[26], and Chavda dynasty[27]. Another possible sock Chhabri02[28] and through same IP[29] they both changed/remove some sort of text from Chavda Gurjar (clan). Blocked sock User:Rajanyas[30] and Sock IP[31] both removed "Chavda dynasty" word from see also section on Chavda (Gurjar clan). Alex Cupper and Gaurav ar Rajanyas all these socks were blocked by @Girth Summit few days ago and Rajanyas was blocked by @Ponyo 2 months ago.223.123.9.24 (talk)

About a edit of yours

[edit]

I noticed your this edit states MOS:INDICSCRIPT. But the guidelines says "This avoidance of Indic scripts only applies to articles that are predominantly India-related and is excluded from, among others, articles about Hinduism, Buddhism, or any of India's neighbouring countries". The thing is the article, about a museum, isn’t India-related. It is a Bangladeshi museum. So MOS:INDICSCRIPT doesn’t apply here. Mehedi Abedin (talk) 22:33, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, sorry! I read " Prasanta Chatterjee, the then Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation", and the country wasn't in the lead section or infobox. I should have checked more carefully. Thanks for the correction. I'll clarify the country in the infobox for the benefit of us non-India, non-Bangladesh readers. Wikishovel (talk) 22:47, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you move this into main space?

[edit]

[32] — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:25, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted the move to draft by an obvious block evading sock, so that when it's G5'd shortly, the record of the spelling variant will remain. But you're welcome to move it back to draft, especially if what I did was in breach of policy. Wikishovel (talk) 11:27, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just can't see the benefit. It was better in draft than in main space. And G5 works in all namespaces — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:32, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes drafts can be G5'd, and the sock account pasted it to draft immediately after I reverted the move. The only benefit is to leave a "prev dels" flag for NPP, the next time it's created. Do have a look at his SPI and the AFD, he's a right pest. Wikishovel (talk) 11:34, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An article that was soft-deleted in 2023 was immediately refunded and is now back at AfD. I am notifying all participants in the 2023 discussion in case any wish to engage again. New AfD is here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Khais Millen (2nd nomination). Thanks! Dclemens1971 (talk) 16:28, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Elli (talk | contribs) 19:54, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am just expanding and improving the article Murugan in order to make it a good article on Wikipedia by removing the redirect and typos in it and adding good and accurate content there but you are reverting my good faith edits always. I am telling you to not revert them for this reason and let me improve and expand that article. 2409:4072:58F:337A:D8FA:F659:D54E:5CD4 (talk) 12:12, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources. For legal reasons, all copyrighted text must be removed on sight. Wikishovel (talk) 14:10, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When you know that it is the only problem in it, remove all the copyrighted text alone and leave all the other remaining own written text alone it that, so that other editors can improve and correct that Murugan article now into a good article instead of removing all content in that article and corrupting it also, so please revert your revert now as they are legitimate edits only. 120.56.171.3 (talk) 17:06, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please see also the previous discussions about moving or splitting Kartikeya, at Talk:Kartikeya/Archive 1. You're welcome to propose a split again at Talk:Kartikeya. I have no opinion on the subject, so will not be participating in any proposal you might make there. Wikishovel (talk) 17:17, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but since you edited it now, you remove all copyrighted content in that article now itself and completely rewrite the article now in your own words, just like how Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva have their other articles Prajapati, Narayana, Rudra in this Wikipedia also in their other names and their main names here. 120.56.171.3 (talk) 14:24, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, all the above discussions in Talk:Kartikeya/Archive 1 conclude that Kartikeya should be split into Kartikeya and Murugan and just like the examples above, the gods have articles in both their main names and other names, Kartikeya should also have an article named Murugan, which is this article now itself. 120.56.171.3 (talk) 14:36, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As I said above, You're welcome to propose a split again at Talk:Kartikeya. Wikishovel (talk) 16:22, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will speak to Diannaa and PamD about this and fix this issue now itself. 117.249.221.45 (talk) 16:49, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

American Communist Party

[edit]

Carlos Garrido and other members of the Midwestern Marx institute (specifically Eddie Smith and Noah Khrachvik) are relavent to the party article because they are members of the Plenary Committee. 173.66.187.233 (talk) 03:04, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, but you'll need to cite a source that actually verifies that they are members of the plenary committee. The sources cited don't mention the ACP or its plenary committee. Please see WP:Verify, thanks. Wikishovel (talk) 03:10, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can't edit the article anymore, since it got restricted, but source [1], the pdf document, has the signatures of these three people at the bottom, confirming that they are members of the plenary comittee. 173.66.187.233 (talk) 03:15, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Page moves during AfD

[edit]

Apologies if I violated a policy, but is there a restriction against page moves of newly created articles just because they are under AfD? I ask because the name "American Communist Party" is used in dozens of reliable sources, as well as other wikilinks on Wikipedia, to refer to the actually notable party, and it does seem somewhat problematic if there is a loophole to ensure a page gets publicity during a high profile election season, without any sourcing, simply by coopting a decades old redirect from an organization's alternative name.

By the same token, US Democratic Party is only a redirect, for example, but it would be problematic for someone to claim the title for a new non-notable party so that they could get a guaranteed 7 days of existence at the primary topic title until an AfD runs its course. Yaksar (let's chat) 12:36, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, moving the article under discussion during an AFD breaks things: I speak from sad experience.
You're right about the 7-day window problem. Just one of those things I guess. Wikishovel (talk) 12:39, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do believe that it creates technical burdens on administrators, although I'm pretty sure I've seen it happen plenty of times (and arguably this creates new issues -- in addition to the massive loophole, it requires the need for redirecting incoming links intended for the actual notable subject). I won't revert, but unless there is an explicit policy I would ask you to reconsider given it's a fairly cut and dry situation with highly problematic results.--Yaksar (let's chat) 12:44, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's not explicitly prohibited: I've replied at the AFD with a policy quote. I personally try to avoid overcomplicating AFDs, and laying extra work on our overloaded admins, and it's pretty clear that this AFD will end in a deleted or merge in a few days. But I won't revert you if you move it again. Wikishovel (talk) 12:49, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Appreciate the response. I will, at least for now, hold off on reversing the round robin to avoid inadvertently creating further issues, but I do think this would be one of those clear exceptions that I would strongly say should be speedily done. I won't have access to a computer for a bit, but if we do allow it to keep the primary topic role for 1-2 weeks because of this loophole I would suggest we at least move away the now-incorrect redirects, which I can look at later. We're arguably in one of the highest profile weeks for the political season right now because of external news though, so again I would side with reversing the bold move away from the clear primary topic. Otherwise, I'm worried we've found a great solution for people who want to get attention to their struggling new indie band "Kamala Harris campaign" :) .--Yaksar (let's chat) 12:57, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Article Declined in reference to already existing article.

[edit]

I had submitted an entry explaining the barefoot community, which is a minority community but you stated there is already a duplicate entry titled barefoot.

However the entry barefoot explains the activity of going barefoot and does not explain the actual barefoot community.

Just like we have a separate entry for LGBTQ And LGBTQ Community as one explains what LGBTQ is and the Other Explains the Community . Just as Barefoot explains the Activity while Barefoot community explains the community.

Myekah (talk) 05:43, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I understand, but I don't think that the community you're writing about is notable enough for a separate article. You can either improve Barefoot with information about the community you're describing, or you can improve and resubmit your draft. Best of luck with the draft, if you choose that route. Hello, I am reaching out because you marked Tosin Osunkoya as a violation of Wikipedia's terms of use. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Hi! I saw you cleaned up my draft. I had a long discussion about it, some editor was complaining that I even get paid out of the blue. An editors helped me fix the issues with the draft and i made an entire new section. You can see yourself, I made about 3 articles in total, one deleted or not, I am not sure. I need a presentation about articles I made for school. I wrote about topics, or people whose work I know. In the begging many editors in the tea house declined it, but after I improved it, nobody reviewed it. I do not know what another article to make if this will be deleted. It takes time to find information. If you have time, do you think you can review it? I am not saying my article is more important than any. J2009j (talk) 19:59, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Article with multiple issues" disclaimer, I am a new editor

[edit]

Hello bro bro, I saw you left a disclaimer on a page I recently made about debugging software x64dbg. This is the first page I've made and I only recently created my wikipedia account so you are probably correct in that it is flawed. The disclaimer included messages that said "The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for products and services. (August 2024)" and "This article relies excessively on references to primary sources. (August 2024)". I have since added two new secondary sources. Is this enough to remove the disclaimer? How am I supposed to show that the software is notable enough to have its own page? Partey Lover (talk) 07:18, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've removed the tags for now. You might find it helpful to read Wikipedia:Notability. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 07:47, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Wikishovel,

You mistakenly tagged this page as CSD U5. First, U5 is for editors who mainly make contributions in their own User space, not Article space or Draft space. That is not the case here. Additionally, this is clearly an article draft so it is not "webhost" content that is unrelated to work on Wikipedia. If someone is working on a draft of an article in their User space, it is completely related to editing work on Wikipedia no matter how many problems exist with the draft. Please take a few moments to review WP:U5 so you know the limited circumstances when CSD U5 applies. It's not just a CSD criteria to use to delete unwanted User space content. Certain conditions must apply for it to be valid. Liz Read! Talk! 23:46, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, it's a bit of a borderline case, as all he's done so far is post his autobio to his user talk, his sandbox, a draft, and a copy of the draft to main space. But I accept your decision. Wikishovel (talk) 23:48, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mistaken identity edits

[edit]

Hi @Wikishovel

On the pages Gadabuursi and Gadabuursi Ughazate, you created a link to Ughaz Roble of the Issa (clan). However they are two different notables who share the same name and title but come from two different neighbouring Somali clans. The easiest way to identify that is that they are from completely different clans. The title Ughaz is conferred upon a leader of a clan. Just a heads up because I wanted to remove the link to the Ughaz Roble of the Issa (clan).

Kind regards

A tag has been placed on Mukesh Mishra (Karate) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

Draft:Darknova

[edit]

Hello, so from what i understand, the article is just not eligible for a Wikipedia article and has to be scraped? SparagusGamer (talk) 12:27, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, no, it doesn't necessarily have to be scrapped - if you can find secondary, reliable sources that show how Darknova is notable by Wikipedia:MUSICBIO, then you can submit the draft again for review. I hope you can find some. At the moment it's only sourced by Bandcamp pages. Wikishovel (talk) 12:36, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Nations at the 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. plicit 11:23, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, they have names it incorrectly. See their talk page for my question. I'm not sure what you would need to do with it? Knitsey (talk) 23:04, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It should probably be moved to draft under the correct name, there's almost nothing about the National Rebirth Party in reliable sources that I can find. I'll wait a bit first in case the article creator has better sources to add. Wikishovel (talk) 23:07, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was prevented from creating a user talk page

[edit]

Hi. When using Twinkle to revert this user's first edit, I was, as usual, taken to the user's talk page which had no content yet. So in which case issuing a warning would be a talk page creation. Upon arrival of the user talk page, I was immediately blasted with a full-page red warning block stating something to the effect that I do not have permission to create a talk page that happens to have the word "gay" in it. I reported the username to Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention and they have not yet been blocked as I write this.

Now why in the hell am I not allowed issue a warning (create the talk page), and at the same time someone is allowed create an account with such a name in the first place!? I see that you were able to issue a warning, so wondering if maybe you have any explanation at all. Thanks. --DB1729talk 04:49, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. That edit filter isn't just for the word "gay", but for the regular expression:
.* is gay
...meaning "any text followed by the words 'is gay'". It's a subtle difference, intended to prevent juvenile vandalism while allowing other uses of the word "gay" in an account name. But I don't know why my Twinkle warning was allowed, while yours was blocked by the filter. Wikishovel (talk) 05:03, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. Yes it may very well have indicated "is gay" as the trigger. I just don't remember for sure. I see you have page mover rights and I do not. Surely that wouldn't have anything to do with why you were allowed and I was blocked, would it? DB1729talk 05:12, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't looked at the relevant code, but off the top of my head I can't think why page mover rights would make a difference. You could ask at the Help Desk, and maybe an admin there can shed some light on this oddity. Wikishovel (talk) 05:18, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies if I've misunderstood you. You can resubmit the article for review whenever you think it's ready, but I'd suggest that you clarify the difference between the two in your draft. The article also needs sources: please see Help:Referencing for beginners for more information on this. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 15:13, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help move page without leaving a redirect to remove unnecessary parentheses/disambiguator

[edit]

Renaming the article from Ai Mikami (actress) → Ai Mikami. Since the manga character from List of Future Diary characters that share the same name is not notable enough to have its own article as well as leaving it without a redirect. Same thing for the unnecessary disambiguation page that has the same name. I hope for your consideration in this task. Turniner (talk) 13:31, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Turniner. What you're proposing is that Ai Mikami (actress) be made the primary topic of the two. That would be a potentially controversial move, so the right way to go about that is to propose the move first, using the instructions at Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 13:47, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the recommendation Wikishovel. Turniner (talk) 05:56, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Million Dollar Podcast

[edit]

Hi Buddy, as i can see you requested the speedy deletion for miilion dollar podcast. There was 4 refrences provided from which 2 was goverment organisations. What is the issue? Ramie.vee (talk) 15:26, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I flagged some issues in the article, but User:Dclemens1971 nominated it for speedy deletion. I think they were right, as it reads like more marketing for you and your career, after your autobiography was deleted at Articles for Deletion. Please don't try to use Wikipedia to promote yourself and your podcast, thanks. Wikishovel (talk) 15:30, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ramie.vee It was unambiguously promotional. One source is a transcript of your podcast episode, and the other three (as @Wikishovel pointed out) do not even mention the podcast. Please stop using Wikipedia this way. Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:37, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Daily Target and the IP sock

[edit]

You may want to report the IP to WP:AIV as an obvious sock, pointing to the (deleted) mainspace article that has been created over and over only by Md Sunnat Ali Mollik socks. SPI is so backlogged, this is probably the fastest way to get them blocked as a sock. Ravensfire (talk) 19:42, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, you're the second editor to suggest AIV for obvious anons, so I'll get onto that now. Wikishovel (talk) 09:51, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alfred Still moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Alfred Still. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and you need to establish a reason why he is notable, which currently is not there. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Ldm1954 (talk) 15:37, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, I improved the new editor's article a bit, but not enough, and draft seems the best place for it for now. Wikishovel (talk) 15:40, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Campaingbox

[edit]

Hello Wikishovel,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Campaingbox for deletion, because it's a redirect that seems implausible or is an unlikely search term.

If you don't want Campaingbox to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Consensus

[edit]

How do I reach a consensus? Like what exactly do I have to do? AshuTri912 (talk) 14:56, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The best way would be to propose a split of the Odisha#Religion section, at Talk:Odisha. There are instructions for how to do this at Wikipedia:Splitting. You've tried a "bold split" already, so now you can discuss your proposed split with the two editors who opposed it, and any other editors who want to join the discussion. Remember that your aim is to persuade them why the split to a separate article is a good idea. If a sufficient number of editors agree with your proposal after at least a week of discussion, then the proposal can be closed, and the article can be un-redirected again. If not, then the consensus at the discussion was to keep it redirected. Wikishovel (talk) 15:07, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Mysterious death of Eazy-E

[edit]

I have noticed you declined my article for not being supported by reliable sources, I don’t understand. The article is sourced by the series by his wife, and movie pages, please give me more incite so I can improve my article. Focus.enterprise (talk) 08:47, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The first reference is a broken link; the second reference redirects to www.wetv.com; the third reference is a 46 second We TV clip on YouTube of three people talking about Eazy-E; the fourth is the same 46 second clip. The article needs much better sourcing than that, especially as a it makes controversial claims about someone's death. You could start by reading Wikipedia:Verifiability, and Wikipedia:Reliable sources.
Another problem is that the article has been generated by AI. Please read Wikipedia:Large language models, thanks. Wikishovel (talk) 09:01, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the response, but it was not written by AI. Those 3 people were none other then his family, the other was a close friend of his. Focus.enterprise (talk) 04:34, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Maxie Andreison page

[edit]

Hi, good day.

I saw that you redirected the page I page for Maxie Andreison to the existing Maxie (Drag Queen) wikipedia page that was already made. I personally know Maxie, I can help you edit the wikipedia, I actually tried. But I cannot edit out (Drag Queen) beside the name so I opted to create new page. I want Maxie's wikipedia page to be called Maxie Andreison not Maxie only, or worse an open and close parenthesis with drag queen inside it. Ecaong (talk) 05:27, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. On Wikipedia, we can't have two articles about the same subject, so I'm restoring the redirect. If you think the article Maxie (drag queen) should be moved to Maxie Andreison, then you're welcome to propose it at potentially controversial moves, using the instructions given there.
Two points to bear in mind though:
  • as you've noted, you have a conflict of interest in the subject, so you should be proposing changes about this subject at its talk page, rather than directly editing the article.
  • Wikipedia names articles for their most commonly used name, which as far as I can see is still Maxie. So when you're proposing the change, you'll need to show other editors that "Maxie Andreison" is more commonly used than "Maxie". Thanks, Wikishovel (talk) 06:41, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Wikishovel,

I noticed that you added a deletion tag to the article I am working on about "Enrgtech". I'm trying to understand the reasons behind the tag and would appreciate your guidance on how I can improve the article to meet Wikipedia's standards. Could you please help me understand what steps I need to take to ensure the article remains in line with the guidelines?

Thank you for your assistance!

Hi how are you doing today pal, hope ur good lemme know also r u single ??? pls reply — Preceding unsigned comment added by SamuelSmedleyFan (talkcontribs) 10:54, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Nations at the 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. SɱαɾƚყPαɳƚʂ22 (Ⓣⓐⓛⓚ) 12:14, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Anna Korobkova requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 16:30, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I was about to move it to draft myself. Wikishovel (talk) 16:31, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw that you reverted the IP's edits. However, looking at those it would appear that the journal "Decision Support Systems" is notable. Would it not be more logical to have the journal article at "Decision Support Systems", with "Decision support systems" redirecting to it? Then all else that would be needed is a hatnote at the top of both articles pointing to each other. --Randykitty (talk) 12:27, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yes that could work, and yes I agree that the journal looks notable. Would that title be better than Decision Support Systems (journal)? Wikishovel (talk) 13:02, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, let's do that then. @Fröbelröbel:, would you like to repost your article at Decision Support Systems? Or at draft, if you prefer. Wikishovel (talk) 14:45, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for acknowledging my previous edits. I'll repost my article and apologize for any mistakes. It’s my first contribution to Wikipedia. Fröbelröbel (talk) 16:11, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it's me that should apologise to you Fröbelröbel. I should have discussed it with you at your talk page before reverting, and I apologise for not having done so. Thanks to Randykitty for politely pointing out the alternative. Wikishovel (talk) 16:14, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Khazar Theory

[edit]

I've edited the "Ashkenazi Jews" Wikipedia page many times only to have my edits undone. I believe there are politically motivated bad actors who want to keep any evidence that the Ashkenazi Jews are descended from the Khazars to any degree off Wikipedia for fear that such information might weaken the Jewish claim to Israel in the eyes of the world. I believe the only way I can get this information onto Wikipedia and keep it there is to have my own page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85872266b (talkcontribs) 03:53, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@85872266b: (talk page watcher) What's strange is that I've searched your username on the revision history of both the Ashkenazi Jews and the Khazar hypothesis of Ashkenazi ancestry, and can't find it.
In any case, what you are proposing is called a "point of view fork," and it's against policy. To quote the page at the immediately previous link, [...]POV forks generally arise when contributors disagree about the content of an article or other page. Instead of resolving that disagreement by consensus, another version of the article (or another article on the same subject) is created to be developed according to a particular point of view(→). This second article is known as a "POV fork" of the first, and is inconsistent with policy: all facts and major points of view on a certain subject should be treated in one article. As Wikipedia does not view article forking as an acceptable solution to disagreements between contributors, such forks may be merged, or nominated for deletion.
To put it simply, Wikishovel was right to decline your draft. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 04:08, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ordinarily, you may be right. But, this is a special case. I believe there are politically motivated bad actors who will never allow this information to stay on Wikipedia under any circumstances. There's no way to reach a consensus with them because their motivation is political. Their actions are contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. 85872266b (talk) 04:25, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@85872266b:
  1. Is there a reason why I can't find you on the revision history of either Ashkenazi Jews or Khazar hypothesis of Ashkenazi ancestry?
  2. You say there are politically motivated bad actors. You're going to have to prove that.

@Lord Ruffy98: I correctly moved the page you started, Pierre Chappuis (Physicist), to the correct sentence case of Pierre Chappuis (physicist) per MOS:AT. Why did you think that was eligible for speedy WP:CSD#G2? Wikishovel (talk) 15:48, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, first of all thank you for removing the correction you did. Second of all, i'm sorry but i actually don't know why there is this automatic message with my signature on your talk page. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and thank you again for your work. If it's not a problem i would delete this topic. Lord Ruffy98 (talk) 17:42, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK I think I see the problem: you've made light use of WP:Twinkle for correctly reverting vandalism in the past, but this is the first time you've used it to nominate a page for speedy deletion. Note that for CSD, there's a tick-box at the top of the Twinkle dialogue that says "Notify page creator if possible", and you didn't untick that, so that's why there's an automatic message above with your signature. This was all just a misunderstanding. No harm done! And thanks for creating the new disambiguation page. Wikishovel (talk) 18:33, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes i think the same, i forgot to untick the tick-box; thank you for your understanding and sorry for the misunderstanding. Lord Ruffy98 (talk) 16:01, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
