[edit]Hi Zachlp! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. |

Question
[edit]Why do we need external links on here for the scores in the 2014–15 Drexel Dragons men's basketball team article? Most season articles like that don't use them. Besides, I am thinking there isn't a reason as to why since how you couldn't explain it in the revert here. Usually it helps to explain why a revert has taken place. If you wanted to use them as a reference, that is a different situation, but not as an external link. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 04:12, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Again...
[edit]Since you don't exactly want to answer my question, it makes me wonder if there isn't a valid reason as to why the external links need to be listed as the score. Per WP:EL, external links should only be listed in the External links section. There is no need to list them in the score as the user can go to the team's homepage or ESPN to see the box score. I'm reverting your edits and until you can answer me, enough to persuade me, then they should not be included. I will post something the talk page, and maybe you'll have enough sense to comment there. I see no reason as to why they should be listed. Also, please do not take ownership of the article. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 00:37, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Question 2
[edit]Is there a reason as to why you can't or don't want to answer me about the external links in the 2014–15 Drexel basketball article? By you not answering me on here or my talk page, I feel as if you do not have a valid reason. I do not see anywhere on the CBB template rules that says the URL have to be there. Wikipedia articles need to be kept consistent and by you adding the external links to the article, it isn't consistent. It is also the only season article that uses external links in the score section. IF you can show me exactly where it says that they have to be there, then I might believe you. If you don't want to respond within a couple of days, I will take this to WP:WikiProject College basketball and see what their opinions are. I still do not believe they should be there, main;y per WP:EL and what I've said above. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 23:11, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

- Before you waste any more of your time, I would suggest taking a look at what it is that it takes to have an article on Wikipedia. Start at WP:GNG. For this particular article, another one applies too, that being WP:NCOLLATH. It takes a while to get it, as there are a million and one different rules for what gets kept and what doesn't. One thing for sure is, if several media outlets from different places are talking about the subject in detail, and or there is a detailed discussion of the subject in a book or a respected academic journal, the article will be a keeper. For a college athlete, unless we are talking about a center for UNC or Duke or Indiana, or a QB from Alabama or Notre Dame (as those individuals will undoubtedly get a ton of media coverage), the minimum requirement is being named first team All-American in one of the big lists (think sport's illustrated or USA today or ESPN). Nd please don't take getting your article rejected personally. It happens to almost all newbies! I recommend doing other things, like proofing or reverting vandalism on existing articles for a while til you get the hang of how things work around here. John from Idegon (talk) 05:24, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
- Funny that you mention that, I was actually looking for the best way to get involved in proofing vandalism. Can you link me to an article where I could learn more about getting involved in that? Thanks! --Zach Pepsin (talk) 18:27, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
- I don't know if you know about Wikiprojects. They are work groups for different subjects. There are about a thousand of them. The one for vandalism is WP:CVU. There are tutorials, and links to other pages you will need at their page. Knock your socks off! BTW, Teahouse, which you have a link for above, is a great place to ask questions and to learn from the questions others ask. And if you ever have a specific question, you can always ask me at my talk page. If I don't know the answer, I will find someone who does. John from Idegon (talk) 18:37, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Damion Lee
[edit]Hi. The page "Damion Lee" has been moved to "User:Zachlp/Damion Lee per the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Damion Lee --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 02:44, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Malcolmxl5: Thank you! Should I leave a redirect on the Damion Lee page? --Zach Pepsin (talk) 16:39, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Zachlp: No, no, that wouldn't be appropriate. Namespace, where articles go, should be kept separate from user space. Just sit on the page until it's ready to move back into namespace. There's no rush. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:45, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
CAA regular season
[edit]It's a 4-way tie, the CAA says as much right here. The tie breakers only matter for tourney season. Please do not remove these any more. Rikster2 (talk) 01:41, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Rikster2: I would argue that only the team to actually win the regular season post-tiebreakers would be appropriate to give the title of regular season champion. That is the point of tiebreakers, afterall. This could be a good point of discussion for a talk page (not sure which page would be appropriate and who to reach about this).--Zach Pepsin (talk) 20:53, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- If the league in question says it is a 4-way tie for the regular season championship (which the CAA does here), then there is no need for a discussion. You can bet that the other three programs will rightfully claim a share of the regular season title in their future media guides. You are confusing the need for a conference to determine one top seed in the tournament (because only one team can be in that spot in the bracket) with an outright regular season championship. They are not the same thing. If conference tournaments didn't exist there would be no tie-breakers. Rikster2 (talk) 21:06, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- Please don't misunderstand me, if you want to start a discussion at Wikiproject:College Basketball about this you are certainly free to. I'm just trying to tell you that this isn't a particularly unclear issue. There are ties for regular season championships every year and the conferences always treat it this way. Tie-breakers do not eliminate a program earning a share of the regular season title. Rikster2 (talk) 21:24, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Rikster2:No that isn't necessary. Your explanation makes good sense. I was looking at it from a postseason perspective. The way you explained it, it does make sense to award the co-champion title to all the teams qualified.--Zach Pepsin (talk) 21:27, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

NCAA final stats
[edit]Official NCAA final basketball include the postseason tournament statistics. There are many guys who will be playing in the four major tourneys. I'm not hard over on you adding the tables as long as you commit to keeping the, updated. If you aren't willing to do so, please wait til the season is over before adding them to the NCAA season article. Rikster2 (talk) 20:57, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Rikster2:Those stats are under the "Regular Season" header. So they shouldn't include postseason tournaments, just conference tournaments. --Zach Pepsin (talk) 21:00, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- it is the place the official NCAA stats go, and those include the postseason. Season articles have used this format for YEARS. Please don't make up new rules with no consensus. Rikster2 (talk) 21:08, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

Reverting edits
[edit]You need to give an edit summary as to why you reverted. Honestly, I agree with Bsuorangecrush; those are not needed. If a team wasn't ranked at all during a season, it's pointless to have a rankings section. If you don't A) talk with the other user about this and/or B) don't give a reason why they should stay, I'll revert your edits. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 18:34, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

- Hi Boleyn! Where on CBB pages are there usually sources cited? I'm seeing that many pages of teams across the country have sourced in very varied areas. It's not very standardized. Thanks! --Zachlp (talk) 21:01, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, Zachlp. The most important thing is just to have the references in the article, but preferably WP:INLINECITED next to the piece of information which they are the source for. A list of sources at the end is less useful, but still far better than no sources listed. Thanks for looking into this, Boleyn (talk) 21:18, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Boleyn! Where on CBB pages are there usually sources cited? I'm seeing that many pages of teams across the country have sourced in very varied areas. It's not very standardized. Thanks! --Zachlp (talk) 21:01, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
Drexel
[edit]Thanks for starting Drexel Dragons women's basketball
However, the opening sentence of the history section starts "Drexel women's basketball began in 1887..."
This seems unlikely, as 1887 is five years before the women's basketball was played anywhere, four years before the sport was invented in four years before the school was founded.
Before I simply remove that, I'd like to keep as much of this section as can be referenced, so can you tell me where you found the information so I can check to see both the correct inception date and whether any of the other statements in that section can be supported?--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:12, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick: Thanks for pointing that out. It appears that is an error, and I am not sure why I didn't reference it initially. However, it appears I may have gotten that statistic from a media guide. For example, if you search this (https://issuu.com/drexelsid/docs/2009-10_drexel_women_s_basketball_media_guide) guide for "1887" you will find that stat on page 51. Like you said, since 1887 was before basketball was even invented, this seems to be an error in the print. --Zachlp (talk) 21:35, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- Indeed it does. I'll write to Drexel, and see what is going on.--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:58, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
- I just received a partial response from Drexel, suggesting the possibility that 1887 should really be 1897. However, that's more supposition than documented fact at the moment. The SID has promised to look into it further.--S Philbrick(Talk) 16:07, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick: Thanks for reaching out to them! That does seem plausible, as the men's team played their first intercollegiate game two years earlier in 1895. I've noticed Drexel's athletic history is less organized and published than other universities, so gathering data from some of the earlier years can be difficult. Hopefully they will be able to confirm. --Zachlp (talk) 14:46, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

Thank you!

Ways to improve 2022–23 Drexel Dragons women's basketball team
[edit]Hello, Zachlp,
Thank you for creating 2022–23 Drexel Dragons women's basketball team.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
This article needs more references in order to provide significant coverage for this article. See WP:SIGCOV
References that have scores, lists, order of merit and video do not pass as reliable sources for WP:NSPORT. (There have been changes to the notability guide for sports - you may wish to read WP:NSPORT ) To meet notability requirements, one more reference with significant coverage will suffice. Thank you.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}

2023–24 Drexel Dragons men's basketball team moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, 2023–24 Drexel Dragons men's basketball team, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 10:28, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
