Jyoti Deshpande, a luminary in Indian media and entertainment, boasts an illustrious career spanning over three decades. As President of Media & Content Business at Reliance Industries Ltd, she has been instrumental in the emergence of Jio Studios as a content powerhouse in the industry. A leading content producer, she led Jio Studios' unveiling of an unprecedented 100 plus stories across films and web shows in 2023. She has also served as CEO of Viacom18, making her the first and only woman CEO of a 'Big 4' media company. Notable productions include Stree, Luka Chuppi, Baipan Bhari Deva, Bhediya, Bloody Daddy, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Teri Baaton Mein Uljha Jiya, Article 370, Laapataa Ladies, Shaitaan, Laal Singh Chaddha, OMG2, Jhimma2, Inspector Avinash and Do Gubbare. She continues to shape the landscape with highly anticipated releases like Baby John, Singham 3, Sky Force, Stree 2, Aaipan Bhari Deva, Raja Shivaji, Kotee, Thangalaan, to name a few. In the recent past, Jyoti has held the position of Chairman, Media & Entertainment Committee, FICCI. Early life and education
editDeshpande was born in 1972 in Mumbai, India.
She earned a Bachelor of Commerce and Economics degree from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. She gave tuitions during college to finance her education and went on to do MBA in 1993, from Mumbai University's SP Jain Institute of Management and Research.[4][5][6][7][8]
Career
editAfter finishing MBA, Jyoti Deshpande acquired a position with Mindshare Media, a UK-based firm. She was a senior consultant at that time. She then was the Sales & Marketing Head for the Zee Network. She went to work for James Walter Thompson, an advertising firm, after working for Zee. She was a senior management team member that formed the B4U Television Network between 1999 and 2001.[9] In 2018, she joined Reliance Industries as president of Media Platform & Content and reported directly to Mukesh Ambani.[10][11]
She is the former CEO of Viacom 18 Media Pvt. Ltd.[12] She was formerly the Group CEO and managing director of Eros International.[13][14][15]
She is also President of Reliance Industries Limited Media and Content Business.[16][17]
