Release Date
editAre we sure about this date for John Fowles's The French Lieutenant's Woman? 201.9.113.124 21:30, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
The John Fowles Wikipedia page lists this novel as appearing in 1969. I'll check with the Oxford Companion to English Literature as soon as I can. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 01:57, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- My copy of the book has a copyright date of 1969. And the Oxford Companion to English Literature also lists it as 1969. I guess that seals it. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 11:09, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Awards
editI'm a bit dubious about placing the Booker Prize under the United Kingdom heading. The prize has a British Commonwealth entry base and, while it is presented in the UK, is not restricted to that country.
Similarly for the Hugo Award. This award is presented at the WORLD SF Convention each year which is held under the auspices of the WORLD SF Society. It may have started in the US but is presented in different countries each year and, as such, can't be seen as being as solely American. The Nebula Award is different, in that it is presented by the Science Fiction Writers of America, a specific US organisation. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 01:53, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Events
editI don't see that the publication of one novel, Deliverance, counts as an event in the true sense. There is a section for such publications below, and the novel is listed there. If it has been included because it was named one of the 100 best novels of the 20th century by someone or other, then all others in that list should be so honoured in their years. This note should be included in the book's page not here. It is my intention to remove this event in the near future. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 23:11, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
