This was then used in order to save the fluvial processes from affecting the contintental flow of rapid water towards the French coast line. As in the recent study of Mappleton it has been made known that there was cold war nuclear testing just off of the shore, out at sea. So the government can be seen as wanting to put up coastal defences in order to stop this knowledge from being made public.
