Does Commodore-in-Chief confer rank?
editThe article currently says:
- Commodore-in-Chief is an appointment rather than a rank. Holding an appointment of commodore-in-chief does not confer upon the holder the rank of commodore or indeed any other rank. Members of the Royal Family wear the uniform of their rank and are not issued with a different uniform for the appointment.
However at the Wedding of Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland, and Sofia Hellqvist Prince Edward was seen wearing a Royal Fleet Auxiliary uniform with the rank of commodore. Greenshed (talk) 17:56, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
As per the list, Prince Edward does not have a naval rank (honorary or otherwise). So he does not have a uniform to use for the appointment. It is a military appointment - uniform is expected. 144.139.103.173 (talk) 06:39, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- Prince William's substantive naval rank is commander but he was appointed Commodore-in-Chief Scotland and Commodore-in-Chief Submarines and wore a commodore's uniform at the Royal Naval College Dartmouth passing out parade in 2023. 12.190.230.2 (talk) 19:38, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
