These "Facts" are not facts, but I'll repost them here just in case:

  • Officially, seven Iron man Matches were held at WWE. Six of those are title matches.
  • Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit, Triple H, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels are the only men who competed in an Iron Man match more than once. Angle is the most with three, the rest were each involved twice.

The second one is coincidence, the number of Iron Man matches the WWE has held is of little note and there have been a whole lot more Iron Man Matches than TNA & WWE have held, who knows who has been in more than one outside of there? Bdve 00:18, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

First Iron Man Match

edit

I read in an old Observer (the newsletter the week before the iron man match in 2003) that the first Iron Man match was back in the mid 70's involving Pat Patterson in San Franscisco.

Don't know if this is of any use considering the article is heavy on WWE and basicly has no history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.248.202.79 (talkcontribs)

I don't know about "first", but I saw Pat Patterson defend the San Francisco version of the NWA U.S. Title against Ray Stevens in an Iron Man match at a house show at the Cow Palace; I want to say it was in the middle of 1972. There was a one-minute break between falls, and they said in advance that there would be an "overtime" fall if it ended in a tie, which it did (3-3, as I recall); the match ended with Stevens knocked out inside the ring and Patterson outside of it; Stevens was counted out at 10, but this was in the days when the "outside the ring" count was 20, so Patterson made it back in and won.) -- That Don Guy (talk) 16:42, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ric Flair vs. Bret Hart 1993 Iron Man match

edit

I edited the main page to reflect the Ironman match between Bret Hart & Ric Flair in 1993 (which myself and many others have a copy of), yet it was wrongly deleted. Please re-instate that accurate post.

UPDATE: 5/22/07 - Someone had deleted the Bret Hart vs. Ric Flair Ironman Match. I have re-added it as it is part of the WWF/WWE Ironman Match history. Please do NOT remove it. Thank you.

Addition of Some Iron Man Matches

edit

I added 2 matches in a new part of the Iron Man Article called Some Iron Man Matches. Add some if you wish. TNA, ROH, WWF, WWE, any Iron Man Match that you think deserves reconigion. 124.181.102.145 04:15, 21 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Grid of match history

edit

Is it possible for someone, or for people to collectively, draw up a definitive grid of Iron Man Matches that have happened in each of the major companies like there is for ladder matches. Surely there are less Iron Man than ladder matches, I certainly would be interested to see the list. Also you could include a score column and possibly a notes section. CZW?

edit

When Iron Man matches are discussed, CZW really deserves mention, as they probably have more Irom Man matches than the other promotions combined, including an Iron Man title. For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CZW_Iron_Man_Championship 217.31.178.94 (talk) 10:52, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
