Rumble/Kos

edit

Not sure I like how this is written.. Kos took the knee from Rumble but at the same time he was poked in his left eye by Rumble's right hand. Mike and Joe acknowledged it on the replays and it was clearly visible. Either way even if there wasn't an eye poke he would have been given time to recover because of the illegal knee. This isn't made clear in what's written. (pinchet (talk) 17:12, 22 November 2009 (UTC))Reply

I think it's important to acknowledge that the knee actually didn't make contact with his head. To suggest otherwise would be biased in Josh's favour. The replays and commentators have said that the knee was blocked, thus meaning that Josh was faking in his pain. http://www.bjpenn.com/main/search/search?q=koscheck+knee. He was kneed by Daley's right knee.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.28.113 (talk) 08:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC) The eye rake to the OTHER eye was arguable anyway as it looked to be the eyebrow, but should we say that it caught him in the eye, Koscheck was still faking as he was clutching the wrong eye, thus making the whole thing farcical and deceptive. Paralympiakos (talk) 17:15, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree with everything you've said I just thought that the rake across the other eye should have been acknowledged as well. (pinchet (talk) 17:19, 22 November 2009 (UTC))Reply

Ok, this is currently (as of 5.21pm) the info in the page:

"On November 21st 2009, Koscheck defeated Anthony Johnson by rear naked choke at 4:27 in the 2nd round. In the first round, Koscheck blocked a knee aimed at his head while he had two knees on the ground. However, Koscheck went down holding his left eye despite there being no contact with that eye. Instead Koscheck suffered an alleged poke to the right eye and was given time to recover. In round two, Koscheck poked Johnson in the eye twice leading to Johnson being given time to recover. The fight would end soon after via submission. In his post fight interview, he called out Dan Hardy who is thought to be the #1 contender in the Welterweight Division."

Pinchet, would you not agree that the line "Instead Koscheck suffered an alleged poke to the right eye" covers it? If not, could you suggest how you would otherwise reference it. Cheers Paralympiakos (talk) 17:22, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Okay re reading it after you explained it that seems to make more sense.. I don't know why it didn't before but it may have been because I was confused about which eye that each infraction happened in. Sorry to cause a scene. (pinchet (talk) 17:34, 22 November 2009 (UTC))Reply

It's no problem. Cheers for listening anyway. Can see a lot of people deleting the current paragraph as they'll think it's too biased. We will have to see anyway. If you can think of any way to improve the readability of the paragraph, then please speak up though. Paralympiakos (talk) 17:39, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's not that it's biased, it's biased and speculative. Remove it. I'm not making an account to do so, but I will continue to remove such on the Daley wiki. This belongs on a message board, not wikipedia66.190.31.229 (talk) 12:42, 18 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

The link of "no contact" to "deception" is an accusation of cheating on Koscheck's part. Video reply shows hands being mashed into Koscheck's face. The statement "The fight would soon end after via submission" is unnecessary, as it has already been stated how the fight ended. If I change anything, you just change it back, so I'll ignore it, but you're being dishonest, and I don't want to have a wikiwar. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.26.221.104 (talk) 18:09, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

There's no POV involved in the link to deception. As stated, the video replays showed that his left eye was not touched by the knee, so his cries of pain and subsequent holding of the eye were acting. As such, it was dishonest and deceptive of him. It's perfectly valid. Paralympiakos (talk) 18:17, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

http://up2share.com/file/2egd0it9i_lefteyepoke.gif shows that Johnson smeared his hand into Koscheck's face just before throwing the knee. The knee hit Koscheck's arm because he blocked. This does not mean he was not poked before the knee was thrown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.26.221.104 (talk) 18:23, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

That .gif doesn't work, but at no point is HIS left eye touched. Not talking about left as we see it, but instead from Kos' perspective. I've watched the clip countless times and not once is the left eye touched. The knee is blocked by the arm of Kos and his right eye perhaps gets raked by the follow through movement of Johnson. Even then, I'd dispute whether it got him in the eye or not as it looked very much like it got him in the eyebrow. Once again, his clutching of the left eye is deceptive. Paralympiakos (talk) 18:29, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you can't see the gif I linked, then this discussion is irrelevant, because you have no idea what I'm talking about. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.26.221.104 (talk) 18:35, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't need a gif, when I can watch it over and over regardless. I've watched every piece of footage a few times now and there is no poke before the knee. Paralympiakos (talk) 18:41, 22 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

oh yes there is. you need to go back a few seconds further. it's there. i've seen it several times. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.241.143.189 (talk) 01:57, 3 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

We have to acknowledge Koscheck's response to be fair, whether you agree with it or not. From my viewing of the replay, he was indeed already falling from the eye poke when the knee went by his face, and he had left himself momentarily defenseless -- clearly not something he would've wanted to do. Even so, I've left my observation out of the edit I've just made, giving only the accusation and Koscheck's response, with a proper citation. Omitting his response is not fair, period. Early life

edit

Koscheck has a strong, well-documented base in collegiate wrestling, dating back to his years at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he attended the university on an athletic scholarship and trained with notable wrestlers such as Matthew Scowden and Olympic champion Bruce Gaumgartner. In 2001, during his Junior season, Koscheck won all 42 of his wrestling matches and went on to become the NCAA Division I Champion in the 174 lb weight class. In the coming years, he would win many championships and receive many honors in his national collegiate wrestling career.

In addition to being a four-time NCAA Division I All-American (placing 4th, 2nd, 1st and 3rd respectively), Koscheck is a three-time recipient of the PSAC Wrestler of the Year award and earned the Eastern Wrestling League Achievement Award twice.

He earned a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Edinboro University.

He spent a few months coaching at Erie Cathedral Prep and one and a half years as the assistant head wrestling coach at the University at Buffalo.

Koscheck appeared in the music video for Chevelle's song "I Get It", playing the man who beats up an employer.

The last source

edit

That's all you've got? A blurry photo? You do realise that when that clip is in motion, Johnson misses his eye easily. Koscheck cheated. Simple as. Now, the article is currently neutral and based on fact, that being that the live replays showed no contact. This is fact. Paralympiakos (talk) 17:56, 13 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Now that the crap was delete....now it's neutral. Thanks for playing though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.155.94 (talk) 19:22, 17 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

koscheck DID get poked in the eye. rogan and goldberg both thought he was faking, then they rewound the footage a little bit further and they both said "there it is." it happened a few seconds before the phantom knee and the phantom eye poke. it's there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.241.143.189 (talk) 01:23, 22 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

He's still a dick.

I appreciate that this adds nothing to the conversation, and probably contravenes all sorts of wiki policies, but I can't help myself - the guy's just such an utter bellend. Sorry. I've restricted myself to the talk page rather than vandalising the entry though.Ride the Hurricane (talk) 12:53, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

GRAMMAR

edit

Not sure why this page is locked, but it needs some SERIOUS grammatical editing. "Now Koscheck is scheduled to face Georges St-Pierre for his UFC Welterweight Championship due to defeating Daley at UFC 124." Fascinating, I thought he just lost to GSP at UFC 124. He certainly didn't beat Daley at UFC 124. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hsox05 (talkcontribs) 15:14, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Height

edit

His height is wrong. He is not 0,94 meters and 3feet,1. Not even hobbits are that low. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.110.13.226 (talkcontribs) 21:08, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nickname

Is there any truth in his nickname being Q-tip? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.141.196.178 (talk) 12:31, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not sure where you heard that, but doubtful. BearMan998 (talk) 19:20, 22 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
