“I like esimdb and use it for all my esims worldwide, for a long time now. I do wish the navigation would become easier. So in the main overview I want to see details of 1 esim, and not go to the overview of the provider where I need to manually find the esim I saw in the overview.
Also I wish I could filter by provider (which doesn't always match the provider that you actually get). Everything else is great!
Airgun shows it will have A1 as provider but it is Yettel.”
“The app offers no coverage in Bulgaria. There's no support available from the app. I would not recommend this provider.”
Everything you need to know about using eSIMs in Bulgaria
There are more than 150 travel eSIM providers and more than 10, 000 prepaid data plans available for use in Bulgaria, offering travelers a wide variety of options to choose from.
Unlimited data eSIM plans are available for Bulgaria from several providers, including abesteSIM, Roamify, MicroEsim, Yesim, Billion Connect, Truely, Orange Travel, and FairPlay. Most of the plans allow tethering but the speeds can be throttled; abesteSIM specifically limits the connection to 5 Mbps. Prices for these unlimited options range from roughly $2.41 for the shortest validity periods to about $36.92 for the longest durations, with Orange Travel offering a single 5‑day plan at $20.99.
In Bulgaria, the primary Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) are:
A1 Bulgaria: A subsidiary of the A1 Group, offering comprehensive mobile services, including voice, data, and messaging, with extensive 4G and 5G network coverage.
Vivacom: Part of the United Group, providing a wide range of mobile services and notable for launching Bulgaria's first 5G network in September 2020.
Yettel Bulgaria: Formerly known as Telenor Bulgaria, now owned by e& PPF Telecom Group, offering diverse mobile services with significant network coverage.
These MNOs own and operate the primary mobile network infrastructure in Bulgaria. While there are Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) in the country, they provide services by leasing access from these major carriers. Most travel eSIMs rely on the infrastructure of the MNOs rather than MVNOs.
Travel eSIMs that provide a phone number with SMS support are available for Bulgaria, but the numbers come from foreign dialing codes. Providers that offer such plans include GlobaleSIM, Roamify, and Orange Travel. GlobaleSIM supplies a +1 number that allows inbound voice and SMS and supports inbound‑only SMS, while Roamify and Orange Travel give +33 numbers that support full inbound and outbound voice and SMS. None of the plans use the local Bulgaria dialing code +359, so the numbers are not local Bulgarian numbers. Prices for these services start around $4 for the lowest‑end GlobaleSIM plans and rise to roughly $70 for the largest 200GB Roamify offer, with validity periods ranging from a few days to a month.
