July 1, 1978: 100,000 people attended the first Texxas Jam at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas Performances by Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Rush, Heart, Journey, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Eddie Money, Van Halen, & others. Cheech & Chong did comedy skits in between each band. Tickets were $13. It was reportedly one of the hottest days of the decade (104 degrees - 120 on the field due to the black tarp covering the field to protect the grass).
