On the subject of alternative, more culturally relevant and creative christmas trees, here is one constructed from pieces of bamboo seen at the Hyatt Hotel:

Hundreds of bamboo cuts and recycled nails were gathered from the hotel’s current refurbishment to build this 3-metre tall sustainable Christmas tree. To make it more festive, the tree is decked with energy efficient LED light bulbs.
