Layering Layering is so important when it comes to colored pencils. This is where you are able to build up the different layers of colors for you artwork. You definetly needs a bit of patience and not just burnish/press hard with the colored pencils from the start. ❤️ 2. Undertones When I first started out with colored pencils I first figured out after a while how many different colors there actually are hidden in pictures. We can take skin as an example. for this specific drawing i kept using prismacolors for layering undertones and then added shadows with polychromos (i feel like they're not as easy to blend so i don't like using them in the first layer), then i layer a little more w the undertones and blend everything w carandache luminance!! for highlights i use a white pencil and a white gel pen
this is what i've been doing lately but i don't really have rules when coloring i just improvise everytime 🤧 hope this was helpfulll
