Evelyn Henson on Instagram: "My favorites from the new “flying colors” series are these heron groupings so here they are up close: Herons by the Sea, Herons by the Garden, and Herons by the Wildflowers! I first started trying my hand at birds last year with a chinoiserie inspired print, and have slowly gotten more and more comfortable with them. This subject did not come easy to me and I found birds initially very challenging: figuring out how to paint their eyes, detailing feathers, and getting the body proportions right were all facets that took time. As I studied and painted them, found myself wishing I had paid more attention in my high school ornithology class.
