Shakespeare’s original Globe theatre (known as ‘The Globe’) first opened in London in the year 1599. The open-air theatre staged some of Shakespeare’s most famous plays over the next 14 years. However in 1613, during a performance of Henry VIII, the entire theatre burnt down after a prop malfunctioned and set the thatched roof on fire. Ever heard of this guy? He wrote plays or something like that? Now, this is not the original theater, but it is a fully operational new version of it, located right beside the Thames in Central London. I was lucky enough to get a private tour of the facility and it was really cool, as you can see. Everything appears to be pretty authentic, from the thatched roof to the multiple view levels. The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare. It was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company, and was destroyed by fire on 29 June 1613. A modern reconstruction of the Globe, named "Shakespeare's Globe", opened in 1997 very close from the site of the original theatre.
