Railroading Heritage of Midwest America (RHMA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote public understanding of the history of railroading in the Midwest. We also provide many services, including 480v standby power, water, ice, septic, car wash, parking, and switching. The charges to the owner of the private car include an annual registration fee, concurrent with the annual PC-1 inspection, as well as a mileage rate based on the number of cars.

With Amtrak on pace to set another ridership record this year, it appears millions of Americans are reserving seats on the nation’s rolling stock. Some are going a step further and reserving entire cars.“Chartering a private rail car is a civilized way to travel,” said Bart Barton, publisher of Private Varnish, the magazine of the American Association of Private Railroad Car Owners (AAPRCO).
