Pratipada is the first day of Navratri. This day is associated with the Feminine Energy form – Goddess Shailaputri. Shailaputri means the “Daughter of Mountain”.

Shail means Mountains and Putri means Daughter. Maa Shailputri, the first in the Nine Incarnations of Maa Durga was born to Himalaya (the King of Mountains). The Devi of the Root Chakra, when awakened, Maa Shailputri begins the journey upwards, thus activating a Sadhak’s awakening. True to her name, she is the rock of spiritual standing and gives strength to the entire world with her steely resolve and child-like enthusiasm.
