Meet one of the most loved and respected beings in Slavic folklore. People believe in Domovoy and honor him. symbols of veles dragon, snake, bear, wolf, owl, willow tree, grape vine, apple

Some Slavic neo pagans celebrate Veles’ Night on October 31 (kinda, instead of Halloween). I am not really convinced it is historically correct, but still—isn’t this a nice occasion to make a deeper dive into my favorite Slavic god? (In fact, just my favorite god) 🙋🏻‍♀️ What Slavic goddess or god should I post about next? 📚 Find more posts on Slavic culture, mythology and traditions in my ‘Slavic folklore’ highlights With love for all magical beings, Lida @lidapavlova_magic

Brief explanation of Veles.

Veles is a perfect representation of how the Slavic people saw their gods: morally ambiguous, complex, and an integral part of the world around them. Veles is a god of the Earth and the Underground, as well as a god of cattle, music, magic, wealth, harvest, trickery, the willow tree, forests, wildfires, and even poetry. Veles’ symbols include willow, snake, wolf, bear, dragon, and owl. #earth #underground #god #slavic #symbolsage

I want to show other people my vision of slavic mythology in comic story. This will be my first big comics project, and have hope, I do it to the end. Slavic mythology is very interesting and I'm really surprised that in polish school any theachers tells about that myths. Maybe because there's no literature like wiht greece myths. But I look at them and find a lot of books. And now I'm totaly crazy about this subject. Hope more people will learn about slav myth, also thanks to this comics :)
