It was interesting to work on this vfx. There are so many ways to show healing. And I decided to do it in this style. Initially, I used a texture with pluses, but I abandoned this idea because I wanted to make the effect with a more serious mood. If you have any ideas about this effect, I will be glad to hear your opinion

From the sketch to the in-engine VFX ! Back on Unity after 5 years.. This effect is apart of my senior thesis Luminous, a top down dungeon crawler heavily inspired by games like Diablo and TorchLight. In the game we have an iron brazier that serves as a checkpoint as well as a healing station. The healing effect appears when you blast the brazier with your projectile.

A whimsical burst of magical particles reveals an ominous and powerful orb that can cause great damage. This original VFX is my personal interpretation of VFX Apprentice's "Wispy Cloud" exercise (www.vfxapprentice.com). All meshes were created in Blender. All dissolve maps and textures were handpainted with the exception of the orb's dissolve, which was used from the class. A big shout-out to the VFX Apprentice community for giving feedback and helping along the way!
